You would know better then me about the earlier seasons, I never saw them (aside from a few youtube video’s so doesn’t count) but it seems that it used to be more of a talent race (e.g. Ruben vs Clay) then a who’s hotter race (Lambert, Allen, Archuletta……) As for limited voting maybe do what they do in australian idol, as far as I know it’s one free vote per line then a charge that get’s bigger for every additional vote, while that might actually be a solution it will never happen bc Ryan wouldn’t be able to come out talking about the record number of votes.

Hey Joey, I think that their is a strong measure of truth to what you say about the contestants sex appeal, in that the demographics are seemingly shifting to the much younger vote.
I think although the age of the audience has remained the same since the show began. The very young have taken control of the vast voting through cell phone power voting and any other technological phone media their may be out there.
As was said in recent seasons here. If there were a way to limit each phone number to one vote the winners might be different and the competition would become completely fair. :smile:
Also I’d like to comment on the irony of the poll choice of “I quit watching” does no one else see what’s wrong with having tht as a coice for a show that’s over?!?! :)
Crystal had only one disadvantage: she’s not good looking in any way shape or form – and that’s the ONLY reason she lost. I think lee has a very pleasant voice and seems to be a nice guy and as a result will make it about as big as Kris (one big single otherwise nothing).
So to sum it up, good for Lee but once again we proved that when looks are a factor talent is not taken into account
I just had to let you guys know that my husband, who DOES NOT LIKE AMERICAN IDOL, was forced by me to watch some of the finale I DVR’d. When he heard Crystal singing with Alanis Morrisette, he said “She’s the winner”–ha, ha, I thought that was very telling. I figured if more like him had watched the season, Crystal might have won. I was just thinking about who’s doing the voting, that’s all. At either rate, both Crystal and Lee and the others all have won. I just thought it was interesting to hear his comment after only seeing her for 2 minutes all season! :smile:
I think america voted predictably. in my opinion crystal is a better singer and performer and interpreter of songs. but america doesn’t vote for does the best. they vote for who is liked in the moment.
lee had momentum and a huge following for some reason. don’t get me wrong he has talent and charm but his voice is not amazing or consistent. I am sure he will do well with production behind him and with a little more experience. he got better through the season. his faces are hilarious!
can’t wait for crystal’s tour and album. can’t wait to see her on lilith fair!!
They are both very talented, I was a little surprised Lee won. But not disappointed. Kudos and best wishes to both of them from me. I got nuttin but love for em’! :heart:

Seriously! Lee has no stage prescence and looks like a deer caught in the headlights. Big Mike was much better than him. 14 year old girls voted the wrong person in again. Remember Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken? More talented and more succesful than the winners on there seasons. Bowersocks is a gifted singer and will do well on her own.

If you replay the two of them with Joe Cocker…the answer is clear. A very nice guy won. I hope he has a great life and a successful career but…the Y beat the X despite the talent gap.

I’m happy with the results. I love Lee. But I would have been happy if Crystal had won instead. Both are equally good. :wub:
