Today is election day all over America but unfortunately we aren’t electing a President. That doesn’t mean we can’t pretend. Re-Election 2008 is on. Who would you vote for now? Leave your vote below and any thoughts in a comment.

Excellent, excellent comment, JoeyInc.–you nailed it, IMHO.

Obama’s publicity has dropped so much I can’t believe there is anyone in the country that hasn’t been able to see past the charisma and fancy speeches yet, the entire election campaign against McCain was based on two things, he’s too old and he’s too old, the list of reasons not to vote for Obama were overwhelming and have all proven to be true.
Wake up America, were not getting any better any time soon (at least not till 2012 – if we make it that far under comrade Obama).

    @ mdegraffen:

“…lunatic fringe…”? So anyone who disagrees with Obama is a member of the lunatic fringe? Wonderful political discourse and a fine way to open a dialogue. I consider myself part of the loyal opposition.

Lee, do you have a serious bone in your body? You are so silly–I love it!

    @ mdegraffen:
actually since the Constitution says “Must be a natural-born U.S. citizen” I would think that anyone born by C section would be disqualified.

Although I voted for John, I still like Barrack, but Random is right. he needs to quit wet nursing the Repubs.Bush didn’t give a damn about the Dems that’s for certain! At this point I wish I would have voted for Micky. He could have ran with Donald for vice President Daisey would make a good secretary of defense and Minnie top advisor They would stop the war and we could all work for Disney World and get on the rides for free. Tinkerbell and Jiminy Cricket could work magic in the house and bring peace to both parties. Goofy could run the federal reserve and give all the American citizens a big bonus at Christmas.

    @ jalin:

    Mine too.

Oh, and McCain? Not born in the U.S., but in the Panama Canal Zone. Therefore, not a native born U.S. citizen. Congress had to pass a resolution so he could meet the Constitutional criteria.

What do you mean “unfortunately”? Obama still has a favorable rating in the polls, except if you look at Fox News, which really is only the media arm of the GOP. I obviously voted for Obama. The lunatic fringe didn’t vote for him anyway, and no amount of argument is going to change them into supporters. I just wish he would figure that out, instead of trying to be their friend.

I was a Mike Huckabee fan as well and that would have been where my vote went. Wasn’t nuts about the two choices, but McCain would definitely get my vote at this point of the two.

While Obama has been more a Republicrat/pro big business President than I would like, it is nothing I didn’t know was coming…the alternative is simply too horrifying to contemplate. If McCain was in office we would be in 1931 conditions at best. And given how quickly Presidents age, Palin might already be President.

Since 1972 Dems always talk a good liberal, pro Main Street, small guy game and then turn into Eisenhower/Nixon after they win, where Repubs almost always talk moderate, pro the “real” American people and real American Jeffersonian values, (parenthetically I am always surprised that the Republican voting, welfare receiving, farmers, ranchers, and oilmen who get the real big government bucks are always anti-welfare) and then turn into “conservative” crusaders who give away the store to the extremely rich (top 1%)…

    @ CB:
Any fan of Mike Huckabee (even if only a semi-fan) is a friend of mine.

I would like to write in a good Libertarian candidate. Unfortunately, there are none.

Oh, Hell! Vote for me! I’ll run the special interests out of Washington with their tails on fire! I’ll fix Medicare and the tax structure once and for all! Damn the politicians! Full speed ahead! (insert motie-on-soapbox here)

  16. CBNo Gravatar says:

I clicked McCain but only because of the choices. If we’re going to play “Let’s pretend” I’m going to say I’d rather have had Mike Huckabee on the Republican ballot. I’m not thrilled with his religious bent BUT I think he should have been given the same consideration that JFK was.

What will be more interesting is the midterm elections next year. They’ll depend on the timing of when inflation starts to gain steam. There will be a gap between when unemployment starts to drop & when the economy starts to overheat. If the campaign is in that ’sweet spot’ then the democrats will do well. If not, look for the republicans to get enough seats in the senate to support a filibuster and for the house to loosen Pelosi’s deathgrip.
