The future of Simon Cowell as judge on American Idol is still uncertain but FOX is doing it’s best to lure him in with huge dollars some as high as $144 million.
[note]A source close to Fuller says that Cowell has already been offered three to four times the $36m he was paid for American Idol in 2008 – but then, he is the most important person on the show and the series makes $900m a year and attracts audiences of 25 million.[/note]

Wow eather simon really doesn’t want back or he is greedy.
Simon is my favorite judge (though I like Paula and Randy, too, even if they do get on my nerves.) Even if he wasn’t my favorite, I really wouldn’t have a problem with this. What I mean is, I DO think it is outrageous the amounts of money that celebrities and pro athletes are paid, however, if the show is willing to pay him that much, he might as well take it.
Misplaced priorities, yes. Most definitely. The only thing that would change it would be for people to not watch AI (or go to the sports events or watch the movies, etc). That ain’t gonna happen.
I always just hope that really rich people give a lot to charity, even if it IS only for the write-off.
Anyway, more power to him.
Well said.
And I DO think Simon is the glue that holds that show together.
at what point are you too rich?? at what point do you have too much money too spend in 144 million life times?? I guess Simon is about to find out!!
It’s ridiculous isn’t it? There is nothing new or original with anything he says or does. He could be replaced by a million critics who would do just as well or better. There offering him 100 million dollars a year to do what? He can’t sing, dance, throw a baseball, tell jokes. If anything at all he was very unprofessional slapping the other contestants over the head repeatedly with Adam. That was so pitiful. I say put Barrack Obama on there, the president will do it for one million dollars a year. Since he is only paid half that. Aren’t our values and priorities extremely misplaced in society?
