I am sticking with David Archuleta, as I have from day one. But I think BOTH of the David’s will do well whether they win or not, since they both sing completely different types of music that appeal to people’s different tastes in music. I for one am not a rock music fan. But I am a fan of easy listening, such as Josh Groban, Michael Buble and Celine Dion. So of the two, David A. fits the bill.

I agree. The songs that DA was given didn’t seem to fully showcase his talent last week, although I thought he did a good job. I also thought they over did DC praises, not because I don’t think he is a good but he seemed off that night. He was much better in prior weeks, yet Simon was throwing him mad props…very suspicious indeed. And yes, they certainly seem to favor DA one week and DC the next (mainly Simon though, Randy and Paula have been pretty consistant).
I completely agree with your statement. DC was good, but he’s been better, and DA got some not so great songs (although the only song that I thought was a really poor choice was his own, IMO).
The last two weeks Cook has seemed a bit off with his singing. I’m sure he’ll rally around and do great for the final though. As for Archie, I’m glad he was thinking outside the ballad box, but any song where a singer refers to his girl as “Boo” is gonna be darn near impossible for D.A. to pull off.

David Cook is the better performer. I hope David Cook wins. I hope that someone will advise David Archuleta that he is being verbally and emotionally abused. He is a talented person, but he needs a chance to live life in the normal lane.

H’mmmm.
The A.I. pimping has leaned a bit heavier on Cook’s side lately, in my opinion, but both guys will do well post idol.
I wouldn’t say that is true. I would say they have become more balanced and are pimping two boys not just one. After all 2 weeks ago DA “crushed the competition”. This week, “The night belongs to David Cook” (all quotes are approximate…
I certainly cannot deny that David A. has had more than his share of pimping, but Cook’s performances last week didn’t deserve the overpraising they got. At least he was given some great songs to sing. The songs Paula and the producers picked for D.A. seemed to indicate (in my opinion) that they didn’t want him to do so well that week. What do you guys think?
Yah, I thought their reasoning was a bit patronizing myself, but that’s because I’m a thirty-something-year-old D.A. fan who dislikes being labeled and categorized. Cook is definitely a rock star already, and he’ll be much easier to market. The A.I. pimping has leaned a bit heavier on Cook’s side lately, in my opinion, but both guys will do well post idol. Cook will sell more albums for the next few years, then I expect Archie will discover who he is and exactly what he wants to do/be and we’ll see him emerge as a “new and improved” star.

I think you are taking my response to be something it wasn’t. I certainly didn’t take the comment as a personal attack, I just found it to be annoying. Having an opinion and stating it is one thing, but claiming to speak for everyone is quite another. I for one have confidence in the poster you speak of; she posts here a lot and has the vocabulary to voice an opinion no problem. As for being “afraid I might say something to offend someone with any expression at all” –yep, I know exactly what you mean; I’m feeling it right now!

Did any of you see the video showing Cook saying that Archie has a dry wit like Hugh Grant? It was hilarious! Both Davids seem genuinely nice. Although I have my number one favorite (David A.) I won’t be unhappy if Cook wins. I almost think it would be better for Archie if he comes in second, because however controlling his dad is, he’s nothing compared to the producers at A.I. The winner from this competition is going to be micromanaged to death. Whoever he’ll be, I hope he doesn’t lose his own style as a result. Both Davids have a unique style that I really like, and I don’t want A.I. to wipe it out of them!

    i totally agree

  25. And I forgot to type in what I was going to say after the quote. This is what happens when you are chaperoning a fifth grade trip to Philadelphia all day and sitting on a bus for hours.

So what I was GOING to say was that YES, Archie should go to college. And not BYU either, he needs to go far away from Dad. Do you think if he won Idol he wouldn’t go on to finish school?

Cook seems like he’d be “groupie candy,” all smirky over that sort of thing! I won’t say as bad as the Kid Rock/Scott Stapp scandal, but I’m sure he’d love all that attention. Archie might not quite know what to do.

    Only time will tell.

  26.
Well, we all decided earlier this season that it would be a showdown of the Davids because they both are such stand out performers. The farther along the season progressed, the more they both rose above the competition in their own ways.
Next week as they will be the only two remaining, they will be compared against each other with the upmost scrutiny.
Cook will be displaying his multi dimentional talent, Archie his sweet soul and golden voice.
my personal take is Cooks Maturity and creativity will expose Archies yong age, making it clearly obvious that he not only is most deserving of the win but also most prepared to launch a promising professional carrer.
We often tend to forget or overlook the fact Archie is only 17 because of his talent. I dont know that anyone will agree but I think when America looks at the two of them side by side, that the swing votes and the people that only cast a ballot in the finale will say “go to college Archie”!!!
I like both David’s and next week is definitely going to be a tight race. Does anyone know if they choose to sing songs from the top 12 or can they choose from the top 24?

  31. I like both David’s in different ways. I don’t mind who wins. It’s been a good season and I think this is a fine way to end it.

If I had to guess, I would say that the Arch Angels may eke out a win for Archie.

Can’t wait to see how it all plays out next week.

  32. TLR

They are both so talented in such different styles of music. They both deserve to win. Alas we can only have one winner. My prediction is that David A will win this time. His fan base is very large. I really don’t care which David takes the prize, however I do feel it will be the younger of the two.

  33. randomx6

I am surprised at how many are picking Cook and not DA. Must be the Jeff Archuleta factor.
At this point it is a bit silly, like having Diane Keaton in “Annie Hall” in a best Actress race against Jessica Lange in “Francis”. They just don’t use the same muscles. In some ways it is sillier since most people can appreciate comedy and tragedy but musical taste can be pretty exclusionary.
I think that DC will pick up all the adult contestants (Carly, KLC, Michael, Brooke) fans who haven’t been voting after their fav was eliminated but are coming back for the finale which could put him over the top.
It all is based on whether one stumbles. If not then it comes down to fan base.

  34. ABB

Both Davids are good in their different ways. I don’t care who wins.

  35. tabbikat_2004

Wow, it’s 6 to 5 saying Archie will win, but 3 of those saying Archie will win think that Cook deserves the win.
