Fantasia may be an American Idol winner but that doesn’t matter when you don’t pay your taxes. Court documents state Fantasia failed to repay a tax loan and now her 1.1 million dollar North Carolina home could go on the market in January.

Court documents show Broward Energy Partners paid more than $68,000 of Fantasia’s taxes in October 2006. The singer did repay $10,000 of the loan, but the company later sued for full repayment. Fantasia failed to appear in court, so a judge allowed the company to take possession of the home and sell it. The home is scheduled to go to auction on Jan. 12 if Fantasia doesn’t repay the outstanding balance, plus court costs and interest.

Fantasia, who stars as Celie in the Broadway Musical “The Color Purple”, has caused numerous tears and refunds to ticket holders. Fans to 50 performances of the musical have found Fantasia no where to be found. A publicist says that Fantasia is just not up to 8 performances a week leading to a refund of tens of thousands of dollars in ticket sales and many unhappy kids.

At the start of the stagehand strike on Broadway however; Fantasia was seen outside the theater singing. One theater executive was quoted as saying, “There’s no show, and she’s out there singing. Now if we could get her to perform when there is a show, we’d be in business.”

So my question is how does she still have a job? I can understand a sick day here and there but to miss 50 performances when you are the star is a whole different story. Personally I would have fired her ass and hired Shyamali to replace her.
