The Idol Radio Show podcast for March 6, 2014
Hosted by DJSlim & Queen Angie
Alan went AWOL again this evening. We aren’t really sure if he was doing his civic duties or really that upset with the results. DJSlim and Queen Angie scurried together to keep a replay from airing.
The results of the evening were discussed. No real surprises on Emily heading home. Michael called in to begin a conspiracy that all the girls are being slaughtered kind of like the guys last season. Next week was discussed and who will go home as was Bieber and his jailhouse urination video that the world couldn’t wait to see today.
If you missed the show grab or stream the podcast below. We promise Alan will return next week.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for March 5, 2014
Hosted by DJSlim & Sir Darryl
Alan took the night off again and left DJSlim in charge with Sir Darryl. Kaitlyn Jackson a season 13 contestant was invited on the show to discuss auditioning for American Idol as a minor and her success with the show despite being cut before Final Judgement.
The Top 12 Train Wreck was mentioned briefly and Slim and Darryl both agree Alan will love the Jake Bugg song played at the break.
On Wednesday March 5, 2014 Alan “The Token White Guy” will be AWOL and DJSlim will fill in alongside Sir Darryl with special guest Kaitlyn Jackson, a American Idol Season 13 contestant. Please take a minute and leave any questions you may have for Kaitlyn in a comment below. If you missed Kaitlyn during the auditions we have included her audition video below! Be sure to tune in LIVE for the interview on Wednesday March 5 , 2014 @ 11PM ET. You will be able to tune into the show by clicking HERE.
The Sometimes Genius ChuckRitt joins Alan and Darryl for the second half of the show, where they talk about how Season 6′s Sanjaya got votes, just how bad Jake Bugg’s performance was on tonight’s results show, and the return of the Judges’ Save and why tonight’s decision wasn’t unanimous on NOT saving Kristen O’Connor from elimination. The guys end the show by talking about Candice Glover’s performance as well as both the lack of sales and the release delay of her debut album, Music Speaks.
The guys move back to talking about American Idol, specifically the voting changes this season. Darryl finds the new Google voting ability, and the fact that you can cast 50 votes PER CONTESTANT, absurd. The guys then give their opinions of the Top 13 performances tonight, agreeing on some performances and disagreeing, severely, on others.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for February 20, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy & Sir Darryl
American Idol Season 13 contestant Savion Wright joined Alan, aka the Token White Guy, and Sir Darryl for tonight’s Idol Radio Show. Alan has made no bones about being upset that the judges didn’t put Savion through to the Top 30, and he doesn’t hesitate to ask Savion if the judges or producers gave him any clearer of an explanation about his being cut. Sadly, there isn’t a satisfying answer. Alan also asks Savion if there is anyone in this season’s Top 13 that had him screaming “I’m better than he is” at the TV screen. Savion takes the high road on that one.
Alan and Darryl ask Savion several questions about his American Idol audition process (watch Savion’s audition again after the jump), how he found the strength to go to Hollywood Week after his brother’s death, and the all important question……. will he try out for American Idol again. Listen to the replay below to hear the answers to all that and much more, including his original song, the one he auditioned to, “Dark Side of Me.”
The Idol Radio Show podcast for February 19, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy and Sir Darryl
It’s all about American Idol tonight on the Idol Radio Show. Well, mostly about American Idol. Alan, aka the Token White Guy, and Sir Darryl start the show by talking about the time Darryl called a stun gun dealer to find out about getting a stun gun to use on his mother. No, really. That actually happened.
After that start, however, the guys talk about American Idol. Alan really didn’t care for the Top 20 twist that occurred this week, especially in light of the three hours of Top 30 Reveal we had to watch last week. Alan then ranks the girls’ performances from worst to best, followed by the guys’ performances, with Darryl trying to remember who some of the contestants were.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for February 13, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy & Sir Darryl
Alan, aka the Token White Guy, is absolutely livid as tonight’s Idol Radio Show begins due to the American Idol judges not putting Savion Wright into the Top 30. In fact, Alan is so ticked off that the All Digital Radio Alert System has to be activated. Those judges are in some real trouble now.
Once Alan cools off, he gives Sir Darryl a heart attack by telling Darryl about the neighborhoods he was in earlier that day, which causes Darryl to tell Alan just how close he was to having been killed. Alan then goes into this week’s “All Blacks Look Alike” segment, which involves Samuel L. Jackson having fun with a reporter who he thought confused him with another black actor. But is that what really happened?
The guys get back to American Idol when Alan asks Darryl what he thinks about the “stop complaining that you’re sick” comments Harry Connick, Jr., made to the contestants at the start of Day 3 of Hollywood Week. This leads into a very long discussion about why so many people get sick in the first place, the contestants not being professionals, and whether the show should give the contestants more time to work on their Group Round performances.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for February 12, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy & Linda King
The Lovely (but Tone Deaf) Linda King joins Alan, aka the Token White Guy, as co-host for tonight’s Idol Radio Show. The opening of which the two missed thanks to Linda distracting Alan with an off-the-air conversation. Once the two managed to get things started, however, Alan issued a Forehead Vein Warning due to the fact that a diva was put through to the Top 30 on American Idol. Naturally, Linda likes the diva. Figures.
There were three celebrity deaths to talk about tonight: Sid Ceasar, Shirley Temple, and Richard Bull. And somehow, Kanye West entered the conversation during one of these deaths. It was all Linda’s fault, though we really like her idea on what kind of question to ask Kanye should she ever get to interview him.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for February 6, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy & Sir Darryl
Alan, aka the Token White Guy, and Sir Darryl are in their normal disagreement form for tonight’s Idol Radio Show. Their first disagreement comes when Alan says that Queen Angie might call into the show. Darryl wants her banned from calling into the show. Alan refuses to consider that. Their second disagreement comes during a discussion about the Coca-Cola “It’s Beautiful” Super Bowl ad controversy. Alan thought Coca-Cola made a bad decision with the song choice. Darryl disagreed (watch the video for yourself after the jump).
Their third disagreement came in talking about Jay Leno’s departure from The Tonight Show after tonight’s show. Darryl thinks Jay was wrong for coming back to the show in the first place after the Conan O’Brien debacle. Alan disagrees, saying all Jay did was accept an offer to return to the show and that he was unfairly blamed for Conan’s departure.
Their final disagreement came in talking about tonight’s American Idol Group Round performances………. wait, what? They actually agreed on all parts in this segment? Really?
The show ends with a discussion about Savion Wright’s murdered brother and the tragedy that has been the investigation so far. Warning: It will turn your stomach.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for February 5, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy and DJSlim
IdolBlogLive.com owner and Off The Hook Radio host DJSlim joins Alan, aka the Token White Guy, tonight on the Idol Radio Show. The guys start the show by talking about American Idol‘s new round, Hollywood or Home. Some of the contestants never even made it out of the airport before being sent home, and the guys loved that. But it also made Alan wonder if those who had to sing for their life that round then also had to sing in the actual first round of Hollywood Week. Alan and Slim then talk about the death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman on Sunday, which leads into a conversation about Hollywood and the music industry turning a blind eye to their stars doing drugs and a downright slamming at this whole notion that you can do a 10-day stint in rehab to get over a drug addiction.
The guys spend the second half of tonight’s show talking about the renewed sexual abuse allegations made by Dylan Farrow against her father, Woody Allen. Slim gets hung up on the timing of her coming forward now and, as a result, can’t get past thinking it could be for any other reason than her trying to get some money out of him. Alan reads some statements Dylan made in a recent blog post, in which Dylan calls out Hollywood as a whole, and a few stars by name, for turning a blind eye to what she says was done to her. These statement, however, have Alan asking why she is demanding that Hollywood, and these stars, believe here and ignore the other evidence out there that says it didn’t happen. The Idol Radio ShowShoutbox is split not only about why Dylan is coming forward to talk about it now but also on whether it really happened or not. It’s a messed up topic that has divided a family.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for January 30, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy & Sir Darryl
Alan, aka the Token White Guy, starts off tonight’s Idol Radio Show by noting that Sir Darryl hasn’t sabotaged the show this week and taking Darryl to task for his antics last week against Radio Dan. The show moves on to talk about Justin Bieber’s toxicology results, Motley Crue calling it quits, and Sharknado 2: The Second One. Yes, that’s actually happening.
Before Demanding Joyce starts demanding it, Alan and Darryl move the talk over to American Idol. They start with the ratings the show has seen so far this season and what it might mean for how much longer it continues to air. The two-day American Idol Workshop was filmed yesterday and today, the purpose of which leads Alan and Darryl into a long discussion about the show needing to end a lot of their theme nights. The guys then discuss several of the auditions from the last couple of nights, including Austin Wolfe, Alex Preston, Samantha Calmes, Kenzie Hall, Tiquila Wilson, Quaid Edwards, and Tessa Kate.
The Idol Radio Show podcast for January 29, 2014
Hosted by the Token White Guy & the Sometimes Genius ChuckRitt
Alan, aka the Token White Guy, is back on the Idol Radio Show tonight after last week’s food poisoning issue. He is joined this week by the Sometimes Genius ChuckRitt, who must immediately talk about the Denver Broncos. As much as Alan doesn’t want to, Justin Bieber becomes the topic of conversation for 30 minutes, including the breaking news that Justin Bieber had been arrested in Toronto. Oh, and Justin has also united the entire country into believing in deportation again.
Congratulations goes out to Season 5 Finalist Mandisa, who won two Grammy Awards this past weekend but didn’t attend the awards. Alan later asks why, if both Sir Darryl and Carrie Underwood are vegans, does Darryl not look as good as Carrie. Alan and Chuck then talk about a couple of tonight’s American Idol auditioners, including Alan’s favorite, Kenzie Hall.
Alan “The Token White Guy” was a bit under the weather again this evening so DJSlim and Sir Darryl had to save the show from a replay. Of course the night didn’t go without it’s issues. Sir Darryl managed to get hung up on by Radio Dan and network issues left many listeners wondering where we went. We stuck it out with news on Bieber getting arrested and yes even some American Idol news to keep Alan happy. We know he was listening. Download the podcast because we know many of you missed the last part of the show.
Alan “The Token White Guy” was a bit under the weather this evening as the American Idol auditions headed to the Motor City of Detroit. DJSlim and Queen Angie banded together to keep a replay from happening. Thank god. Justin Bieber was tossed on the plate along with news of Peter Pan Live coming to NBC. We found out Captain and Tennille are getting divorced after 39 years and that Bill Cosby, the 79 year old, is headed back to primetime TV. One can wonder if he will play a heart attack patient. American Idol talk concluded the evening with both Slim and Angie agreeing that a boy will win and the themes need to be changed. Tune in again tomorrow night at 11PM ET for more of The Idol Radio Show.
