We won’t be seeing Paula Abdul on Star Search anytime soon, in fact we probably won’t be seeing Star Search at all according to the Daily Beast
A deal for Paula Abdul to host and judge on a re-booted Star Search on ABC appears to be dead. And since Paula isn’t part of the package, the project itself is probably now also dead.
ABC wasn’t willing to up the price in order to launch a new untested reality show into a crowded market.
ABC did make a huge offer to Paula but she turned it down supposedly because it was 5 million less than she was offered to be a judge on American Idol but I think she turned it down because she has actually signed on for X Factor.
While many are missing Paula Abdul on American Idol this season it is quite possible we will see her on TV again real soon. Vote For The Worst via Entertainment Weekly has learned that Paula is in the process of finishing a deal with ABC to host and judge a new version of Star Search that will air in the summer.
Paula Abdul is straight up headed back to TV!
Sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly exclusively that the ex-American Idol judge is finalizing a deal to headline an updated version of Star Search, the great-granddaddy of all televised singing competitions, for ABC. Abdul’s role is still being defined, but I hear it will likely include some combination of hosting and judging.
So does this mean Paula is out for X Factor? Time will tell but I am sure ABC won’t let her work on another network while she is signed to them. Honestly though she would do so much better on X Factor than on what was once one of the worst talent shows on TV.
I posted this last year and again this year American Idol is the most profitable TV show for 2009 according to Forbes Magazine raking in over 8 million bucks per 30 minute episode.
Most Profitable TV Shows For 2009
Not only did American Idol make the most money in 2009, they killed the competition. I guess this answers the question as to why we have to deal with so many commercials during an episode.

Join ABC tonight at 8PM as former contestants Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney walk down the aisle at their wedding; includes footage of their bachelor and bachelorette parties.
It all started with Paula twittering her resignation on American Idol. Then Ellen was named the 4th Idol judge. Rumors surfaced again that Simon was leaving the show. The Hoff called it quits on America’s Got Talent with Howie Mandell named as the Hoff’s replacement. Simon signs a deal with X Factor, quits American Idol and rumors surface Peirs Morgan is in talks to replace Simon as are rumors Ryan may get the nod. Paula and Simon are also in talks for Paula judging on X Factor.
Today the shakeup continues. Simon Fuller (Idol Creator) is now leaving to create his own company and join with gossip blogger Perez Hilton in an effort to create a new TV Boy Band Search of some stupid sort.
Finally Jay Leno has reclaimed The Tonight Show and his old time slot running from 11:35 to 12:35 leaving poor Conan O’Brien still wondering if porn is his next direction in life.
Who is next? Are we gonna find Randy leaving and heading to Biggest Loser? Will Billy Ray Cyrus take Ryan’s job when he becomes a judge on Project Runway? Leave your conspiracy theories in a comment and have some fun.
