Paula Returns To TV

Published on May 24, 2010 by in Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul has finally landed a spot on TV but it isn’t with her beloved pals on the stage of American Idol but a rival networks new dance series. Paula will play judge on the 2011 premiere of “Got to Dance” on CBS.

Now the big questions. Will Simon still get Paula to judge on X-Factor when it begins? Will CBS allow Paula to judge on another network? What will be in Paula’s cup on this show?

Paula Abdul is returning to the judges table as part of a new primetime talent competition series on CBS.

Abdul will serve as the lead judge, executive producer, creative partner, mentor and coach on “Got to Dance,” a series from Shine/Reveille that’s based on a UK hit.

The competition show is billed as broadcast’s first all-ages all-genres dance series — “from ballroom to break dance, bhangra to ballet, and tap to tango.” A wide variety of acts will compete for a panel of judges, with viewers getting to vote for their favorites during the semifinals and finals.

CBS is expected to announce that Abdul is joining the series on Monday.

Star Search A No For Paula

Published on Mar 18, 2010 by in Other TV, Paula Abdul

We won’t be seeing Paula Abdul on Star Search anytime soon, in fact we probably won’t be seeing Star Search at all according to the Daily Beast

A deal for Paula Abdul to host and judge on a re-booted Star Search on ABC appears to be dead. And since Paula isn’t part of the package, the project itself is probably now also dead.

ABC wasn’t willing to up the price in order to launch a new untested reality show into a crowded market.

ABC did make a huge offer to Paula but she turned it down supposedly because it was 5 million less than she was offered to be a judge on American Idol but I think she turned it down because she has actually signed on for X Factor.

The Return Of Paula

Published on Mar 15, 2010 by in Other TV, Paula Abdul

While many are missing Paula Abdul on American Idol this season it is quite possible we will see her on TV again real soon. Vote For The Worst via Entertainment Weekly has learned that Paula is in the process of finishing a deal with ABC to host and judge a new version of Star Search that will air in the summer.

Paula Abdul is straight up headed back to TV!

Sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly exclusively that the ex-American Idol judge is finalizing a deal to headline an updated version of Star Search, the great-granddaddy of all televised singing competitions, for ABC. Abdul’s role is still being defined, but I hear it will likely include some combination of hosting and judging.

So does this mean Paula is out for X Factor? Time will tell but I am sure ABC won’t let her work on another network while she is signed to them. Honestly though she would do so much better on X Factor than on what was once one of the worst talent shows on TV.

Paula Returning To TV

Published on Feb 14, 2010 by in Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul announced yesterday that she would be returning to TV soon.

[note]Oh, I’m gonna be going back to my roots and doing a TV show that has something to do with my roots”.

She continued, “I’m going back to doing some teaching on television in that kind of capacity,” which could refer to the mentoring role judges take on “The X Factor.”

When further pressed about her possible involvement in “The X Factor” specifically, Paula only said, “I want to be able to say everything right now, but I can’t.”[/note]

Looks like Paula said more than enough. I am sure we will see her sitting next to Simon once X Factor begins next fall. What do you think? Will she be an X Factor judge or is she just blowing smoke in her coke cup? Leave your thoughts in a comment.

Sources all over the net are saying Paula won’t be back after 8 seasons on the judges panel.
