While there is no Idol news on this Thanksgiving night why don’t you burn off all that extra turkey that you ate today by spending some time watching the auditions for Total Pop Star. I have personally spent quite a bit of time on the site and I must admit I have found some decent talent and even voted.

For any of you aspiring singers out there that didn’t make the Idol cut this is your chance. Submissions are still being accepted and the Top 6 will be chosen by voters like me and of course you. So submit your song now.

Well, then maybe the Total Pop Star contest is for you. Created by Universal Music Composer/Producer Andrew Van Slee, it is the largest on-line singing competition in the world, and open to anyone and everyone with a passion for singing and all things music! The winner gets a record contract and prizes worth over $150,000. Celebrity judges for the competition are former teen idols Deborah Gibson and Joey Lawrence.

Update : Total Pop Star is in full swing. The site is live now with lots of videos for everyone to watch and vote on. I found myself there for over an hour looking at some of the talent. Does anyone have pictures from launch party? If so let me know and maybe we can get some posted.

There is yet another American Idol Type of contest starting on November 12. The big difference with this one is that it is web-based with aspiring singers submitting their song online and the general public voting on their favorite. The 6 people with the most votes will then get a chance to work with judges Andrew Van Slee, Joey Lawrence and Deborah Gibson with one being crowned “Total Pop Star” on January 27.
