The Daily Beast has learned that no one from American Idol has in fact contacted Howard Stern about replacing Simon Cowell as judge on Idol.
Howard Stern will not be replacing Simon Cowell, according to American Idol insiders. This week the Idol nation buzzed with the possibility, first mentioned in The New York Post. The rumor was propelled by Stern on his radio show yesterday when he said, “It might be possible, we’ll see.”
There is, however, less to the story than meets the eye. Two Idol insiders told The Daily Beast that no offer has been made to Stern, and that in fact, with the new season just beginning, the show is months away from choosing a replacement for Cowell. A source familiar with the search process says Stern was never even being considered.

@ starshine0810:
Starshine, you always make such perfect sense to me. Donnie Osmond is the consumate performer. One of the most well rounded ever! 30 plus years of tv and recording contracts. Years of touring and performing live and now he has even tucked dancing in to his credentials. Of course he’s been doing all these things since his childhood.
He’s easy on the cameras, has a wonderful personality and disposistion. He has had many career ups and downs and who better to give a young starving artist advice on …well everything, because he has been thru and done it all. He is also a very family friendy fatherly figure. I would go back to watching if he came on board. But I think the show is doing its best to seperate itself from the Disney type image.
@ rachel:
You are right.
@ DJSlim:
I’m with you Slim, as I posted in the “would you watch” poll. As long as he wasn’t vile, I wouldn’t mind him.
@ starshine0810:
Now that’s the most intelligent thing I’ve read in a long time. I knew I loved you, starshine!!!!!
I vote for Donny Osmond as a judge. He is “a little bit Rock and Roll” you know.
@ rachel:
Absolutely!
I agree with Rachel.
I think Neil Patrick Harris would make a perfect judge.
the latest replacement rumor is Guy Oseary, Manager of Madonna
i guess i am the minority here because I wouldn’t have minded having howard as a judge
I know Howard has lots of fans; however, nobody that acts and talks like he does belongs on a family show, nor should he or she be paid $10 million a year to do it. JMO.
@ angie:
Amen
Hallelujah!
Publicity stunt…
