Name : Jasmine Murray
Song : Love Song
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-01
Judges Thoughts : (R) There were some good moments and bad moments. It was pitchy all the way through. Feels weird for me. (K) It was really all over the place. It wasn’t your best performance. (P) I want to disagree but I have to agree. You sang all around it and you went off pitch. Confidence was great though. (S) I am disappointed cause I like you. You don’t have a great voice. You are a couple of years to early. You aren’t ready for this now.
My Thoughts : Well TPTB have set Jasmine up to be sent home giving her the first slot tonight. Honestly though first or not, it was pretty terrible. Why oh why did I put her on my team.
My Score : 15/25
Song : Viva La Vida
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-02
Judges Thoughts : (K) You blew me away in Hollywood and tonight I am just not blown away. That was not the type of song you should sing. You are a good singer but that didn’t show the best side of you. (P) It was a risky song to pick. Your performance here was far better than rehearsal. I hope you are here next week. (S) Verging on a horrible performance. I like your voice but you did the wrong thing. (R) I am still pulling for you but I agree with Simon.
My Thoughts : Spoiler was correct on this song but it was horrible. Matt isn’t going to pull through. Pack your bags. You have the seat next to Jasmine on the plane.
My Score : 15/25
Song : This Love
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-03
Judges Thoughts : (P) Great legs. It’s season 8 and Simon. (S) Painfull, terrible but you do have really good legs. (R) The legs are hot. Completely the wrong song. The best part was it was over. (K) So overdone. Everything about it was wrong.
My Thoughts : What is up with tonight. Did they just pick some names out of a hat and call it the Top 36 this season. Another plane ticket has just been purchased and it won’t be first class. Pack your bags.
My Score : 15/25
Song : And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-04
Judges Thoughts : (S) I pray you don’t go through to the next round. One of the most atrocious performances at this stage of the competition. (R) One of the most entertaining performances. The vocals were not happening but that was funny. (K) At least we remember you. You do your own thing. You aren’t a terrible singer. I enjoyed you. (P) Singers come in different everything. I like Normund. You are a true performer but I am not sure this is the stage for you. You’re fun and memorable
My Thoughts : I love the mockery this show has become. I just love it. Alan will be throwing stuff at his TV but I have to say I laughed and was entertained. Isn’t that what TV is supposed to be about? Props.
My Score : 22/25
Song : Alone
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-05
Judges Thoughts : (R) You just blew it out of the box. We got real singing. Might be one of the hottest tonight. (K) You don’t know how good you are. You are great. Get comfortable on stage but you have serious chops. (P) I think you could sing the telephone book. You are by far the best we have heard so far tonight. (S) Your the best tonight by a clear mile. The competition just started right now. Boring upstairs with Ryan and on stage you turned into a completely different person.
My Thoughts : Started off great. Thought it got a little rough but still the best vocal we have heard tonight.
My Score : 20/25
Song : Man in the Mirror
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-06
Judges Thoughts : (K) The back half was way better then the front but it still doesn’t come close to Hollywood week. This was the wrong song. I don’t see you doing this. (P) I think you showed your personality and you nailed it. I thought you were charming. (S) I agree with Paula. You aren’t the best singer in this competition but tonight, you did what we asked. You showed confidence and personality. The chicks are going to love you. You may have put yourself back in the running. (R) You did it without the guitar tonight.
My Thoughts : Another ticket home was just purchased. The agents at Idol Air have been busy so far tonight.
My Score : 17/25
Song : Put Your Records On
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-07
Judges Thoughts : (P) Tonight you picked the right song. The camera is in love with you. You did everything right. (S) You look gorgeous. It started off really well and then you over sang the second part of the song. I hope America votes for you though. You stand out, you are relevant and current. (R) Big fan of yours. I am interested to see you in the other rounds. It was a nice job. (K) You are a package artist. With the right song you could be a breakout artist on the radio.
My Thoughts : I thought Megan may have snuck in there after the horrible performances tonight but I am still not convinced she will. Not the best performance but not the worst by any means.
My Score : 18/25
Song : If You Could Only See
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-08
Judges Thoughts : (S) I really like you but I absolutely hated that song. I am really frustrated. It was boring, it didn’t suit you. You didn’t do yourself any favors with that song. (R) It’s a great song but the performance was boring. It was just ok. It was just cool Matt. (K) It didn’t show us any side of you. It fell really flat. You can actually sing. (P) You have a real good voice. Every note was in key but the song didn’t show who we fell in love with.
My Thoughts : Love this song and I think Matt did a great job with it. Glad I picked him for my Fantasy team. Best vocal for a male so far tonight.
My Score : 20/25
Song : Bette Davis Eyes
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-09
Judges Thoughts : (R) I thought it was an ok of a performance. It was just another cool kind of performance. Vocally I want to see you stretch yourself. (K) This is your best look. You had some issues with a few notes but you took some risks tonight. I thought there were some moments that I liked. (P) I found you captivating. You’re cool. Your phrasing is unique. I will always remember you. (S) I think you’re forgettable. It was too cool for school.
My Thoughts : I am on the fence. I kind of liked it. Her vocal was good. Will she sneak in there? I am not sure. We didn’t see a lot of her and America doesn’t know that much about her. That may be what hurts in the voting department.
My Score : 20/25
Song : What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-10
Judges Thoughts : (K) I just like you. you are a really good guy. I think you had some pitch issues. The song was a little old fashioned. (P) You fell off pitch a little bit. You have come back. You got the chops to do well in the business if you work hard. (S) It was very old fashioned, the performance was corny. It was something you would hear in a wedding. Nothing memorable. (R) It was just so safe at this point. Not what I am looking for.
My Thoughts : It actually was pretty good. Not the greatest but good.
My Score : 19/25
Song : Drops of Jupiter
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-11
Judges Thoughts : (P) You can sing. You sang it well but it just didn’t excite me. (S) It’s a great song but something left me really cold with that performance. You act like a 50 year old. (R) You can sing whatever as long as you sing it amazing. You feel so much older and you are only 18. (K) I didn’t mind the song. Loosen up a little bit. You are a good singer but where do you fit in the music industry.
My Thoughts : Being the last girl to perform may just help. It was a good performance, a nice vocal and Mishavonna may just be back in our Top 12.
My Score : 21/25
Song : Satisfaction
Phone Number : 1-866-idols-12
Judges Thoughts : (P) I am watching the Adam Lambert concert. You are in a league of your own. (S) Parts were bad and parts were brilliant. It will be a love it or hate it performance. (R) I loved it.One of the most current artists we have ever had on the show. You got it going on. (K) Your vocal technique is amazing. Who has a range like that.
My Thoughts : Adam gets the pimp spot. Wonder how that happened. Great close, great performance. Welcome to the Top 12
My Score : 22/25
Wow tonight is going to be hard. I have to pick 3 people to go on in the competition and this group isn’t the easiest. I am not going to base this solely on my scores but a combination of that and who I actually think America will put through.
Top Male : Adam Lambert
Top Female : Allison Iraheta
Next Highest : Nick Mitchell
So what did you think tonight? How did your favorite do? Who will be going through and who will be going home? Leave your thoughts in a comment. Tune in tomorrow night as Angie blogs the results live. I will be online for the results as long as Alan doesn’t come through the computer and kick my ass for picking Nick.

I think she has a nice voice too.

Adam is nasally? David Archuletta IS nasally!!!! OMG I couldn’t STAND listening to him sing! Adam’s problem is that he is too theatrical to the camera right now. David Cook kind of does that too but he learned to play it down later on. It’s CONFIDENCE, that’s all. That boy can SING! He’s the only one in this lot who CAN sing. OMG where the heck did they GET this group this year!? Bleck!
Adam’s voice sounds almost exactly like Axl Rose — and he has the theatrics to match. If Adam had decided to sing “Sweet Child of Mine”, it would’ve been eery.
I heard him sing about 7 notes during Hollywood Week, and based on that alone, I could tell he’s going to be one of the top contenders. It all comes down to how much he develops in the coming weeks.
one big problem – the judges like to say that “you need to blow it out” – and make too much of a fuss over whether it was the right song.
the result is that the typical performer is focusing mainly on “blowing it out” – which means singing as loud as possible, putting in as many runs as possible, and/or hitting as many high notes as possible. But this almost always results in being “over the top”, having serious pitch problems, straining your voice, and all the other things that makes for an appallingly bad result.
the best approach is to pretend that you’ve just been eliminated, and you have this one final song to sing – so might as well loosen up and have some fun with it. Almost none of these people (except for Mr. Gentle) seem like they’re having any fun out there. In past seasons, there have been a number of cases where I’ve been screaming at the TV during an elimination night performance – “Why didn’t you sing it like that the night before? – You’d still be in the competition!!”
And there is WAY too much hand-wringing over “song choice” — a good singer can take almost any song, and sing it well – and a mediocre singer is going to be mediocre regardless of what they sing. Obviously, you need to pick a song that is within your vocal range, and you need to pick a songs with lyrics and emotions that you can connect with — but 95% of the time, the thing that makes the performance bad is nervousness, trying too hard to impress, and lack of talent.

I know of at least two instances in the last two weeks that the girl contestant was doing fine until “screechy” came in, and then the contestant got off key. After listening to these again, I actually like Mishavonna Henson quite a bit. In fact A LOT. If she doesn’t make it tonight I hope she gets a shot at the Wild Card.
Adam Lambert – Top of his form–musically mature, unusually creative, technically fantastic. His pitch is perfect–BUT I don’t actually like the tone of his voice much, though, and there’s not much anyone can do about that. It’s too nasal, not very many overtones. Still, others seem to like it.
Allison – This girl is brilliant, given that she is basically flying by the seat of her pants in terms of inexperience. I can’t see her doing anything but getting better. Expressiveness, pitch, musicality–perfect.
Adam is nasally? David Archuletta IS nasally!!!! OMG I couldn’t STAND listening to him sing! Adam’s problem is that he is too theatrical to the camera right now. Allison is the only girl with promise if she can do something with her facial expressions and drop about 10 pounds or exercise at least. That’s a little harsh, but true in this industry. She needs a makeover. The hair color is too harsh. She looks like a punk. She will go VERY far in a few years with a little maturity and a few vocal lessons from someone like Ron Anderson. Heck, that whole lot of them needs lessons from Ron Anderson this year. o.O

I can’t figure out why everyone digs Adam. I find his voice kind of annoying, his antics are way over the top and his persona is so pretentious.

The audio on these clips sound way better then what was on TV haha.
I can’t figure out why everyone digs Adam. I find his voice kind of annoying, his antics are way over the top and his persona is so pretentious.

Jasmine – Not so good. And she was on my fantasy team. Oh well.
Matt G & Jeanine were just ick.
Nick needs to go away.
I really liked Allison and I think she has a good chance of being put through.
I liked Kris. Middle of the road. Probably won’t make it past tonight, but pretty good.
Megan I liked a lot. She’s so cute and I love that style of singing. Like Randy said, she’s similar to Duffy & Adele. I did not like the dress or the dancing. Lose the silly dancing.
Matt B. I liked a lot. He needs to put more power behind his voice, but I really like him.
Jesse I’m on the fence. She had good and bad points. I’ll think she’ll fall in the middle. And I can’t get past the yellow teeth.
Kai I really like, but I’m not sure he stands out enough to make it.
Mishavonna is great, but like Kai, I don’t think she stands out enough.
I refuse to comment on Adam. He bugs the sh*t outta me. Sorry.
Adam and Allison are in with Kai or Mish fighting for third.
If you look at youtube clips of Adam, he’s waaaaay more over the top and flamboyant. While some may argue that’s how he’s been on the show, the youtube videos bring it the next level. In addition, he’s obviously and openly gay – even makes a comment about it in one video.
He exudes sexuality but with eyeliner, nail polish and a natural flamboyance to his style and voice, it’s just not the heterosexual kind of flamboyance.
Either way, he’s my favorite of the 24 we’ve seen.
General comment: The musical arrangements were SO much better this week. Last week the tempos were bizarre and there were all sorts of weird elevator music type effects that made half the songs into ‘easy listening.’ It looks like the producers picked up their game.
Headsup: neither of these, however, are ‘cute’ in the way that helps to win the whole competition, especially when you get to the point when there’s only a few ‘cute’ people left to concentrate the votes of people that vote mostly on appearance. I’m not sure how well they’ll do in the later stages on account of this.
Kris – gorgeous on TV. nice voice–haven’t been paying much attention to him, but I like him a lot.
Megan – I love the tonal quality of her voice, but I think she has trouble staying in key. Also, am I the only one that found her ‘twisty’ thing when she was singing a bit painful to watch?
Mishavonna – I like her a lot, but she her performance was wooden in terms of expressiveness, and this will hurt her. As the judges were saying, she needs to radiate more playfulness (all art is play, ultimately).
Matt – Not only a bad song choice, but very ill-advised vocal adornments to the song that I thought just sounded plain weird (strange riffs, etc.). I predict these problems in awkward interpretation will hurt him even if he goes through on wildcard.
I have to ask…what’s with the repeated mentionings of Adam’s “overt homosexuality”? Is there something I’ve missed? All things considered–in relative terms–I just don’t see the extremes that other people seem to keep bringing up.
I hope we get Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Mishavonna Henson. Megan Corkery could come back in the wild card.
Thnak heavens no parents interview.
1 Adam (who else)
2. Allison (who else)
3 Very interesting but I think Megan will edge Matt and Norman for the 3rd slot.
I LOVE ADAM! The man has a voice. I actually agreed with CarUH for once. His range is insane.
I’m on second listens now…
Jasmine was NOT as horrible as the judges made her out to be. My opinion of her being “Eh” stands.
Matt G did, indeed, stink up the joint doing that Coldplay song. Bad, Bad choice.
Jeanine certainly has some potential, but wow. That was bad.
15 seconds was as far as I could make it with Nick. It was horrible. I hated it with everything in my soul.
Allison could do some great things with that voice if she continues to make good song choices.
I like Kris a lot more the 2nd time around. I wish he could stay!
Megan is still my favorite. I really really like her voice!!
The judges were too hard on Matt B. He did a great job, if not a little too soft. I’d like him to stay.
On 2nd listen, I didn’t like Jesse as much as the first time around.
Kai has a gorgeous voice. Just not that WOW factor. Plus, his hair is bad. :)
I like Mishavonna more on 2nd listen. She’s not my favorite, though.
Adam leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Also? The way he pronounced radio (reh-dee-oh) was highly annoying. Glad I didn’t have to watch him again. He’s still on my loathe list.
OK,not sure why I chose to post my 2nd thoughts, but there ya go.
Oh and the red room was less of it! Very nice. :)
Adam is cementing himself as one of the most talented contestants that the show has ever seen.
His crazy singing style, crazy fashion sense and his overt homosexuality will make him a polarizing figure on the show – Perhaps an Idol culture war with nice Christian widower, Danny Gokey.
Either way, if he continuously hits home runs, he’ll be around for awhile, whether he wins in the end or not.
My guess, he’s the most marketable of the 24 we’ve seen thus far and the producers, wanting to make $$$, we’ll stick with him as long as he does what he does.
I thought nick was terrible :pinch: Sorry Rachel
And, to use my favorite word of this season….I LOATHE Adam Lambert. LOATHE. He’s on my loathe list with Tatiana and Nick Mitchell.
LOL! I want to have a loathe list! I am going to start one.
Do it! It’s quite therapeutic!
Nick is entertaining, and I think he will get work as a result of his appearance on this show, but I believe his run is over. I don’t think we will see him in the wild card round. That spot is reserved for TBrat.
It’s going to be an interesting vote. I do think Adam Lambert was the most entertaining. I did like Allison Iraetha and Megan Corkey of the girls. I like Megan’s voice, but I think her stage presence was horrible. I also found Mishavonna much more likable than the judges. This week may be one guy and two girls going through to the final twelve.
I would love to see Matt Britezke move on, but I think he will have to be a wild card pick.

Megan Corkrey: I am in love with her singing voice! Enough said. :)
Lamby: HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER!!! WOOOOOOOOO!!!! He has got to make it!!! He was fantas wait for it!!! tic! :) I love him!!!
People who booed Simon: CUT IT OUT!
I may or may not blog about the show…but here are my thoughts in a nutshell.
The SUCK: Nick Mitchell. He is not funny. Period. He is not even trying to show his voice. Go home.
Also in the suck department for ME: Matt G (and I wanted to like him soooo badly) and Jeanine.
The EH: Mishavonna and Jasmine
The better than EH but not blow-me-away: Allison, Kris, Matt B, Kai, Jesse
Megan was my favorite of the night.
And, to use my favorite word of this season….I LOATHE Adam Lambert. LOATHE. He’s on my loathe list with Tatiana and Nick Mitchell.
I have no idea who I would put through tomorrow. At this point, I don’t care.
Also, too much talky tonight on the show. It didn’t need to be 2 hours long.
Tune in tomorrow when I bring my classy and MATURE self to the blog for LIVE BLOGGING of the results.
Hmmm. I was pretty disappointed with many of these performances tonight. I would have to say that I liked Nick, Kris and Mishavanna the best. Even though I am not really a fan, I also thought Adam was pretty good, and Matt too. I thought the judges were a bit harsh tonight on some..although I agree that most didn’t really have that WOW factor.
Only 1 star for this week…Adam!…
This group sang better overall than last week’s group. Alison is the standout, Adam and Kai did well in their respective styles, and on 2nd listen, Jesse and Mishavonna were good too.
Nick was very funny. However, I don’t think this is the right place for him. He sings well, but he puts on the clown even better. Broadway, SNL, dinner theatre…. just not American Idol.
I thought Mishavonna has some potential, but she was lacking some spunkiness, some vivaciousness. Jesse Langseth needed this too, she could have knocked Betty Davis Eyes out of the park if she’d let loose a little. These guys are playing it too safe.
I’d almost rather see a crash and burn on the level of the gal who oversang and acted Police last week (forgot her name already), because at least she was giving it her all.
For the moment Megan and Allison was the best tonight for me
Megan and Jessie were both good, but neither one rocked my socks off nearly as well as Alison.
I thought nick was terrible :pinch: Sorry Rachel
Yay Nick whoever you are! I wish I was American so I could vote!

Little ol’ 16 yr old just busted the door down… and with “Alone”! I’m glad I put Alison on my fantasy team at the last minute! She has a strong voice with a little rocker in it. Can’t wait to see how she does in the top 12.

I’ve never been there but I will check it out. I also like TvGasm’s recaps of Idol. hilarious.
obviously i like this live blogging too, which is why i’m here. but this is not funny. it’s just factual. i flip back and forth because i like their sense of humor. that’s all.
I understand, it came across a little differently, but cool. We also stay for the shoutbox convo too. Results night is a different blogger so it comes across with a totally different flavor.
I LOATHE Nick Mitchell. Almost more than Tatiana. I was thoroughly disgusted throughout his “performance.” I just may go to jail with Alan.
(hi, alan, love  )

You are recommending the “competition”? Haha, puh-leeze, we’re here because we like THIS live blogging.
Well, I just caught up with the first 3 singers and what a disappointment! Wow! This is crash and burn, part two.
I see Nick came out as Norman tonight. Wish he’d sing something other than his tried and true standby. But he’s cracking me up. AND he’s better than the previous three.

Jeanine was just painful to listen to.

I figured that Jasmine Murray was the girls’ side slam dunk for the night, but she just delivered a hugely disappointing performance. And being first won’t help her at all either. :dizzy:
She may as well pack her bags
I should NEVER have picked her for my team…
Horrible so far…
What is going on with the contestants???????? Matt Giraurd just bought his ticket home!
Bikini girl was better than either of the two we have seen so far tonight
I made it! thanks for cueing Joyce!
I liked Jasmine. She was not as horrible as the judges thought.
