Slim Wants To Go : Amanda, Danny, Luke, Syesha
Slim Thinks Will Go : David H, Luke, Kady, Syesha

A lot of research went into both sets of picks. Last week I did terrible. I am hoping to do better this week. I can’t be on the bottom of my own pool.

Note : The results were blogged live via the East Coast Feed by angie. You will know who is going home as soon as it happens. Everything is after the jump.

Eliminated: Kady Malloy, Luke Menard, Asia’h Epperson, Danny

Hey, guys! Angie here. I’m back to take over the results night blogging. And, here we go! We’ll know our Top 12 very soon. I’m kind of excited, how about you?

Ryan opens the show and starts by quickly introducing Blake Lewis. You remember him, right? The beatbox dude who lost to Jordin Sparks last year. I must say, I really like Blake’s album (shut up! I still say album because I am old). I didn’t actually buy it, but I’ve listened to it. Anyway, Blake is still entertaining and boy can still beat box. Great way to open the show, but let’s get on with it!

First to be eliminated tonight will be one of the guys. Again, we have to sit through recaps. Funny how the suck still shines through in short recaps, huh?

First ones in the Top 12 to sit their booties in the silver space chairs are David Cook, David Archuleta (duh) and Jason Castro (yesssss!).

Commercial break. Run and get a snack and something to drink. It’ll be a while.

Aaaand, we’re back. Time to watch recaps of the ladies from last night. Yeah, my thoughts from last night are the same. I still like the same people. Still didn’t like the same people. And Paula’s hair really DID look that bad. I didn’t dream that part.

First ladies to get the space chairs are Brooke White and Syesha Mercado.

Kady Malloy, along with her cleavage and bad song choice, is the first eliminated tonight.

Back to the guys now. David Hernandez gets a space chair and so does Michael Johns. (Yipee!)

Luke Menard (JACK! <<—Shoutbox joke. Sorry.) Wham!s his way home. That’s cool blogspeak for ‘is elimnated.’ You know you want to be as cool as me.

Ladies’ turn, again. Into the space chairs go Ramiele, Carly and Amanda (ugh). The two left are Asia’h and Kristy Lee. Ryan makes us all wait yet again and cuts to commercial. Back from commercial and Ryan asks the judges who they think will go. And Paula babbles. Kristy Lee gets a space chair and Asia’h Epperson goes home. I personally think Amanda should have gone home before Asia’h, but, them’s the breaks.

And finally, we are down to Danny and Chikezie. Who will it be. I am sure America is cruel and will make me have to endure Danny for another week. Huh?? What?? My dream came true?? America DOES love me! Danny goes home and Chikezie gets a chair!

Well, there you have it, guys. We’ve got our Top 12. Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments! Until next week….
Angie, I just love all your blogs! :)

And even though nobody teased you about the “album” comment, I wanted to tell you that you’re totally justified in calling an album exactly what it is – an album. I know those of us who remember vinyl quite well referred to “LP’s” as albums, but technically the word album is still correct because it’s an “album” of songs, just like an “album” of photos.

Yeah, most people say “CD” instead of album, but if one downloads it to a computer, then what it is?

    Hmmmmm.

Anyway, enough digressing. I wanted to thank you (and of course Slim!) for this little addiction that helps me get through the bleak West Virginia late-winter early-spring season.

And I TOTALLY agree with you on Jason! He’s my favorite!
I love your adorable kitty avatar.

I remember vinyl LPs very well. I once owned the entire output of the Beatles on vinyl, including two albums in German. I think that makes me a dedicated fan.

I also think it should have been Amanda out before Asia’h. Other than that, last week’s results were most satisfying.

Single best line from Ryan … David Hernandez take a stool!

Aww, thanks, Jenny! I enjoy blogging the results for Slim and all you guys. My humor and goofiness may not be appreciated by some, but I don’t let that get me down. I have more friends around here than enemies.

I have to say I’m very sorry to see Asia’h go, she brought life and light to the show, she was original, funny and open. I will miss her.

Asiah got canned before Amanada? That’s total BS. Her voice was 100% better. :em72:

No surprise for me on the others though.

Luke Menard: I was singing along with his song that he sang tonight. I love the song and he can sing it’s just he isn’t right for this competition.

Asia’h Epperson: I bet her father is looking down at her and is proud of her. He should be. :)

Danny: Oh rats!!! :( Who is going to make me laugh now? Well there is Paula if she let’s her nutty Paula come out and play. Danny did the Moose Simon ROFL

Chickpease (Chikezie) did you see his face when Ryan told him he was safe? :) He was shocked! Were you thinking you were going home man? :)

    David Cook: YESSSSSSSSSSSS SAFE!

Michael Johns: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY MAN IS SAFE ALRIGHT!!! :)

Ryan: Oh boy! They are going to open the phone lines so we can talk? :) Nervous Simon? :)

Kristi lee cook: SAFE WOOOOOOOOO! :)

Angie, with all due respect, I’m not surprised by any of your choices. We have very different criteria for evaluating musical talent.

American Idol win or not, talent always overcomes AmericaIdol. After TV, which is a visual medium, these singers must be able to produce CDs (or hopefully LPs) which are pure musical mediums – and many of the past winners havent done nearly as well as some of the more talented runner ups.

    ABX
Wow ABX, what the hell brought this on?

  19. No eye candy left for me now with Luke gone. David’s shirtless shot was all over the place today and probably not bad to see, but I couldn’t even look after his giant snot confession the other night.

And now back to homework. Zzz.

  20.
Angie,
    Yes to the cheese factor!!
AI is just entertainment, pure and simple (unless of course you are a contestant) .
And I agree it’s staged, just like it’s probably going to be a Carly vs David A (professional) showdown for that final spot (with David winning), but so fun to watch it all unfold. And of course all those skeleton bones rattling around the contestants’ closets is great.
    Strangely addictive, all this.
Addictive. You got that right, sister.

Angie, fair enough … we all have our reasons. Unlike you, I’m into AI strictly for the music content, without that, I might as well watch any other form of crappy reality TV to pass or should I say – waste my time. That said, I do confess that the emotional aspect of AI is very real, and some of the eye candy is appreciated … but I digress.
Oh, I take absolutely NO offense to anyone disagreeing with me around here. No matter what you see here, I have a wide range of musical tastes. When it comes to American Idol, I most definitely don’t watch it for the promise of amazing talent. It’s cheap entertainment for me. Sure, I have people who I like or dislike for various reasons, but I don’t REALLY expect them all to be perfect and to blow me away every week.

American Idol is whatever the producers want it to be. Things are staged and planned and shock value goes a long way. Frankly, none of that matters to me. I love the show for the cheese factor. I love the show for the fun of it. I watch the show so I can dish with my idolbloglive friends.

So, yes, you’ll read my silly blogs on results night and read all about my critique of Paula’s hair or the god-awful pants that most of the girls seemed to be wearing and maybe an occasional comment on actual singing. (gasp!) In the end, I’m in it for the fun. If I find a singer I actually like and would listen to outside the show, then man, that is just gravy.

And you know what? I know pretty much NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA about music. I just know what is pleasing to MY ear. If that pleasing music comes with an entertaining package (such as Taylor has, in my opinion), then I am a happy girl.

Wait. Where was I going with this?

Wow, I love American Idol! Bring on the Top 12!

PS Yeah, when I said, “entertaining package”, ha, I didn’t mean THAT kind of package. :em23:
And I Love me some Angie :em70: :em70: :em70: You go girl – one of my favorite people here at Slim’s.

I could totally see David Cook being really cocky, especially after seeing last night’s performance when he was “making love to the camera.” Ew.

As an example, this year I think Kristy will bounce right off AI and I predict she will have an excellent and long carreer within her genre.

I can’t see that type of longevity & promise with most (but not all) of the others.

David A has superstar potential, win or lose.

  31. Rats- now we don’t get to see Danny in a prairie dress for country week.

I expected Luke and Chikeezie to go., was pretty surprised Nurse Amanda didn’t leave, & sorry to see Asaiah go in her place.

  32. I will say I am happy that Danny is gone but he sure was funny

    I CAN’T EVEN IMAGINE WATCHING THE SHOW WITHOUT DANNY AND ASIA’H, AMERICA YOU’RE DISAPPOINTING ME !!!!!! :em08: :em12: :em08:

  34. Anne

I will miss watching Danny’s antics! He makes me laugh, Chikeze just makes me feel a bit queasy. We all knew Luke was going…he wasn’t bad looking though. If only he sang better I’d rather have him than David Cook (who I just seriously don’t like – and did you hear he has been quite cocky since doing well on Tuesday? Not like we’ll ever know for sure, but…I just don’t like him). As for the girls, Kady was good and Asia’h was good…but it comes down to more than that! I’m not 100% sold on the top 12, but next week should be interesting!

  35. Can’t comment on that because I LOVE me some Taylor. But, everyone around here knows that.

  36. tmq800

Finally, Chikezie will bring some diversity to the Top 12. He and Syesha will split it out for the black voters. And thank god David Hernandez , Kristy, and Ramiele are in!!!

  37. ABX

Good luck Asiah, you’re a beautiful brave soul with spirit with lots of grit and talent. If you ask me Ramiele should have gotten the boot for her embarrassingly nervous & terrible musical performance.

    But, such is life!

Even after Taylor Hicks silly victory, I’m consistently amazed at America’s inability to distinguish between biased populace and singing ability. Such is the demographics of American and their Idols!

    ABX

  38. Dan

I also think that Amanda should have gone first instead of Asia’h, Angie…

  39. Dan

:em78: nice voting America! I think Kristy L would be out, if audience decided based on performance…

  40. Dan

Lukee lukee lukee, next should be danny noriega or david hernandez, i’m torn between the two…
