It’s Latin Night and the Top 8 will take to the stage with a little help from Jennifer Lopez and anything could happen. In previous weeks we have seen some of the better contestants depart while others are left in their place. Could it happen again after tonights performances? Only time will tell. Judges Thoughts : (R) Another solid performance. Not your best but solid. (P) Very smooth, you look lovely. It was suttle and sexy. (S) It had to happen. I didn’t like it. That song is about personality and you didn’t put on a wow factor performance.
DJSlim’s Thoughts : The show opens with the anointed one tonight. Wonder if that could hurt her in the way of votes. In the past contestants going first do tend to end up in the bottom 3. Performance was strong just as is has been in the past few weeks. Another great vocal. 22/25

Judges Thoughts : (R) You had a good time. That was hot. (P) You look lovely. I didn’t feel it like Randy. It was a safe performance. (S) I agree with Paula. It is a fun performance song. You had fun but I am not sure how much fun the people at home had.
DJSlim’s Thoughts : A true party song. One I play quite often. Lakisha needed to make the song fun and she did but it just wasn’t what it could have been. I will use Simon’s comment for Melinda, no wow factor in this performance. Don’t get me wrong, it was good and will still score high but it just isn’t enough for Top 8 20/25

I was actually looking forward to Latin night. Santana is legendary. And Gloria (with the sound machine) was a huge fave of mine. I’m a big “rhythm” fan anyway…and Latin embodies that. But you’re right….it was a mediocre night of performances. Somewhat disappointing.

I sincerely hope AI NEVER, EVER does another Latin night! It was terrible. This genre is not a singer’s genre. Great dance music, but every song sounded exactly like the last, or there was so little difference that it all blurred together. Some awful performances by some very good singers. So long as Melinda, LaKisha, and Jordin remain, I’ll try to bear up.

Well, I won’t face it because I don’t agree. They are all predictable because they each have their own sound and their own “thing.” I will say that she picks some boring songs, but girl doesn’t hit a bad note. I’ve already addressed the “disingenuously coy” thing, so I won’t repeat it here.

I liked Blake last night, and even Chris (at least better than the others).
Lakisha and Jordin didn’t have their breathing down and seemed winded. I can’t remember Jordin’s performance but I definitely didn’t like Lakisha’s.
I think Haley probably has more fans (and I don’t know what all the hubbub is about her outfit) than Phil so he may be going home.
I’ve quit commenting on Sanjaya and I haven’t seen Melinda’s performance yet.

Wait until you see DialIdol’s predictions ! You are NOT going to believe it !! Lakisha is in last place. According to them, Haley has nothing to worry about. Haley looked different last night. She looked sort of chunky. I think it will be either Haley or Phil to go, even though DialIdol has Phil in the top three. In my opinion, I liked Blake, Jordin and Melinda the best. He’s had plenty of time to wow me and he hasn’t done it yet. I’ve been semi-wowed by a few of them up to this point, but Sanjaya hasn’t been one of them. Based on over-all up-to-now performances, Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin and Blake should stay.
I’ll be very sad if Lakisha or Jordin goes home tonight over Haley, Phil and Sanjaya.

I’m so surprised to see so many people saying positive things about Sanjaya… Im with Simon, it wasnt horrible… but saying it wasnt horrible isnt the same as saying it was good… when I sing… it isnt horrible… but im smart enough to do it only when im alone in the car.
I dont know how, but as i was reading everyones comments Sanjaya started singing ( must have been the clip in comments a while back).. And really, ok it wasnt as painful as it usually is especially since i couldnt see him, but it wasnt good.. not by a long shot.
I just feel like we have all lowered our standards this year…. There wasnt anyone truly spectacular… anyone exciting both in preformance and sound… so we’ve just made due.
Actually, Chris was a lot better than we thought he’d be. Sanjaya was surprisingly good. I agree with the above post who noted that it was a pretty darn controlled performance. Very smooth. Haley HAS to go! She’s getting by on the “Idiot-male” vote. Sorry, guys, but that’s all it is. Just terrible. Phil at least deserves to go home AFTER Haley does. If he leaves before she does, it will be a great injustice.

Not to sound negative but I don’t think any of them really stood out tonight.
I really thought we would see some smooth spanish love songs- unfortunately, we had one and it was stop-looking-at-me-like-a-pedafile Sanjaya :em61:
It seemed almost like the judges were trying to knock down Melinda and Lakisha a peg or two since they usually get over the top glowing feedback. I wonder if coming out too strong early is hurting them?
And I can say this because I am a semi chubby guy, but Lakisha had some disgusting rolls of fat coming out of that too small dress :em38:
During the mellow sections of the song, Phil sounded decent but his voice was kind of crackly on some of the tougher notes.
I still like Jordan although I think she would have showcased her voice better with more of a slow sultry song.

Melinda did the best she could with that song. Sounded great, but not fond of the selection.
Did Paula get lip injections? Particularly on her lower lip. Maybe it was the excessive lip gloss.
Lakisha is sexy. (Ok, tell me she’s fat. I know already, but she’s still sexy.) She seemed to run out of breath on this song. When Gloria Estefan does it, I believe she does the hook line (Come on shake your body baby do the conga, etc.) in one breath. Anyway, an ok performance.
I love Smooth by Rob Thomas & Santana. Chris’s version was just eh.
Time for Haley’s outfit I’ve read so much about. Well, the outfit doesn’t suck. I like the top. I think her hair & makeup are the best I’ve seen for her. The song started out fine, but went south when she started roaming around the auditorium. I think Simon was out of line telling her, in essence, your singing sucks, so come out naked and maybe you’ll get the pervert vote.
Nothing to say about Phil. Didn’t like it. It’s time for him to go.
Paula, again with the “you’re cute” but no constructive criticism? Jeez. Jordin was pretty good. I just can’t get into this latin theme, so it makes it hard to like them.
I liked the ‘Shake & Blake’ sign in the audience. I don’t like Marc Anthony, so I’ve never liked this song. But I kinda liked how Blake did it. If I had one criticism it would be that he did it too slow.
Sanjaya, Sanjaya. What can I say? He did ok actually… for him. He’s got too soft a voice and not much range. And I gotta say… QUIT LOOKING AT ME!! Simon’s positive-ish comment had to hurt!

Even though it’s early yet for DialIdol, and I rarely believe their findings, I am sad to see Lakisha and Jordin so low. It’s a sad thing that Chris, Phil and Sanjaya are above them.
I can go to bed now. I voted for Lakisha and Jordin a bunch so tomorrow if one of them should happen to go, I can complain because I voted. :)

I’m scarrrreeeeeddddd for Sanjaya. Regardless of dial idol, ever since the 9:10 mark, I have gotten through every time i have voted for him. I think that the spanish lyric song that no one knew really hurt him this week…Thanks to that god aweful performance by Hailey, i think he will be saved though….wipes sweat from brow. He’ll come back next week and a lot of Hailey’s votes will go to him…i hope!!! GO SANJY!!! :em02:
