I’ve had 4 favorites win. Out of 7, that’s pretty good. Kelly C (but I really like Justin a lot.), Ruben, Carrie and Taylor. Last year, while I liked Jordin, I didn’t much care who won and this year, I was happy with either David. My favorite was Michael followed closely by Brooke and Jason. Bet you guys didn’t know that, huh?
Soooo..what time’s the IA meeting tonight??
IA = Idols Anonymous We’ll all be feeling major withdrawals!
Season 5 is still my favorite, but this is now second. They were all so good, and such an interesting mixture of talent and personalities. And for the first time since Season 1 my favorite was the winner!
I’ve now had three favorites win. Of course, David Cook was an early co-favorite with Brooke. I would have been happy to see either of them win. Incidentally, Brooke was awesome last night.
All in all, it was a very satisfying season. In spite of the three dumbass judges and Ryan.

Viewers discover each week which unlucky singer is getting the boot, of course. But one of the main complaints about “Idol’s” phone-in balloting is that the show has never published precise voting totals, not even at season’s end, when such information would be in no danger of swaying perceptions that could alter the competition. Thus viewers can only speculate by how much, say, Jordin Sparks won the contest last season. ADVERTISEMENT The lack of transparency sometimes leads conspiracy theorists to grumble about “Idol” being “fixed,” especially when a popular contestant, such as this year’s Michael Johns, is shown the door. What’s surprising is that at least one of the show’s producers says he’s all in favor of releasing the vote tallies.”If there’s any overt rule that says why [totals] shouldn’t be released, I’m not aware of it,” executive producer Ken Warwick said in an interview last week. “I was under the impression they were open to scrutiny.”No one is saying you can’t look at them,” he added. Well, actually, someone is. After the interview with Warwick, I asked a Fox spokesman if the network would be willing to release the tallies from last season. The spokesman said that lawyers for the show conferred over the matter. A short time later, a written statement arrived, credited to Fox and show producers Fremantle Media and 19 Entertainment: “The network and producers will not disclose voting tallies for the competition, as the release of such information would only serve to create additional rumor and speculation.” The statement added that the show would “be willing” to release “the total number of votes” received this season, as it has done in the past. But, of course, the total number of votes reveals very little. In fact, it doesn’t even tell us how many Americans participated in “Idol’s” process, because viewers are encouraged to phone in for their favorites as many times as they like. It can be assumed that if “Idol” followed a one-person, one-vote system, the results would be much different. But without a full accounting of each season’s totals, it’s hard to say anything definitive about “Idol” voting.Maybe when “Idol” finally ends its run — many decades hence, no doubt — the producers can donate those long-ago voting tallies to some grateful museum curators. I have to confess it does make one wonder if there is something to hide.
If the govenment of the USA can tell us the total vote numbers state by state in the primarys as well as elections it does at the very least leave a serious question mark as to wether or not they have something to hide. As you suggest maybe some day we may find out in the freedom of information act. “Who knows”?

I am in post-idol withdrawal already. So sad it is all over.

WOW!!! What a great relief, thanks ABB, Am so looking forward to the good times ahead. Loved the season and and all the fun.

don’t be so blue panda bear, David Cook was the ONLY real artist on the show, I know David A is a cutie but gotta give it to the real deal!! :w00t:
I don’t think anythig was wasted, but IMO the voting should be more realistic. NO WAY is DA that distant a contestant. IMO he was #1, but I did enjoy DC on stage talent, while I though DA had the better voice.
I think AI should take a lesson from DWTS and limit the number of votes to get the better picture of what America really thinks, rather than the group that has the busiest fingers and phones. JMO
A true idol won the competition. The one with the most talent won the competition. My attitude was that America wouldn’t get it right because they haven’t in season’s past, but they did this time. I’m surprised and thrilled. I hope that he will not be changed by album producers and whatnot because David Cook is unique…and it’s that uniqueness that makes him “This year’s American Idol,” and can keep him a star for many years to come.

Lee,
Certainly the highest vote total.
Margin? Not sure they have always annouced that but certainly one of the larger ones. A bit surprising but I think Simon really galvinized DC’s fan base and I think (speculation coming up) that Syehsa’s fans must have gone for Cook and that a lot of Carly and Michael fans who stopped voting came back for the finale and went heavily for Cook, as well.
Yeah, that would explain it, “Hey Random” if you catch this response, Thankyou. Might you also know the closing and reopening of Idolbloglive?

Slim,
Love the new header.
BIG winner, little winner, little winner, BIG winner, little winner little winner, David Cook (BIG winner?) Will the trend continue?
David A is the real winner in my book. David Cook is so so. Just for a side
note read that David C fans would call on David A lines and once the voice came on would let it hang until the phone company cut it off so that many phone lines were thrown off. Way sad that many DC fans felt that threatened! Too bad cook fans are showing their true colors. DA will always be a star and be huge. Heard he has already had several offers. Go DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heidi, Do you have a source for your reading? Love to see the link.
  I do think America got it right this year. In my opinion, David C is the best Idol yet, surpassing Carrie Underwood and the few others who have really had successful careers after the show. As it was pointed out on CBS news last night, not to many made it really big after winning. David C has been my pick from early on. I’m very happy for him and will buy his CD’s!!!! David A has my well wishes, also. He is a very talented young man and has a bright future ahead of him. Kudo’s to America!!!! YEAH, David Cook!!!! :silly:
How weird that something like this could piss people off. Not everyone will be pleased that David Cook won in a landslide. This is a reason to be pissed? Better to put that pissed energy toward gas prices going through the roof.
Archie was terrific too and he will do very well, but only one can win. Lower your stress level and simply don’t buy Cook’s music. I’m positive Archie won’t disappear off the face of the earth…then you won’t have get your underwear in a knot.
I know – people get waaayyy too serious about this. Relax and enjoy the show. Buy the music that YOU like, and let others enjoy the music that THEY like. It’s a big world, and we all live in it together.

I am beyond happy about this. DC said Hello and then over the next few weeks make me a believer. He deserves this.
Both will have great careers.
David A is the real winner in my book. David Cook is so so. Just for a side

Both the Davids are so very talented in different ways. They both will do well to two very different audiences. Best of luck to both of them

David Cook is a true musician, singer, song writer, and the best. Isn’t that what American Idol is about “The BEST” you go David. I voted 2.000 times via text until the poll closed and don’t worry lil’ Dave will go places. Open to ANY discussion Melissa :w00t:  and to mention David C. is HOT HOT HOT, his quitar does things for me
SOO GLAD COOK WON
OMG! What a beautiful night! Cookie won!! :w00t: WOW!! I have never been so emotionally vested in any other Idol (although Carrie comes a close second). I am so proud to be his fan!! Well done, DC!
