I said Lee in the poll, but I am really torn. I can’t decide who I think will win. As far as who I WANT to win, I totally can’t pick. I like them equally for different reasons. From day one, even in the first auditions week she was by far my favourite! She is at the talent level Kelly Clarkson was at when she won! I pray she wins, but it will obviously be a tight race! :)
Crystal is so very very my favorite!! She is such a good role model of hope for single Moms who can win at being the greatest for musical talent despite her complicated life. “Women get up every day and do what they need to do… to feed the children” I also know she will be such a brave advocate for women and children with the disease of Diabetes. I’m totally loyal to you Crystal. ( even if some one else has had a recent good performance) You Go Girl! We all love you!
When I close my eyes (or listen to Slim’s recordings from the show or the studios) and listen to Crystal or Lee, I REALLY like what I hear. I enjoy it and their VOICES make me feel good. That is what I want from music. That’s all I need from music. Just make me feel good. It doesn’t matter what they look like, though I think both Lee and Crystal are attractive people. It doesn’t matter what the judges say about them. It doesn’t matter what other AI fans say for or against them. It is what **I** hear and feel. I am certainly old enough to decide what I like or don’t like without anyone telling me what to think!!

I think they’re both really talented people. I think it’s the same for lots of people: I’ve championed Crystal throughout and become more and more impressed with Lee throughout. It’s the first time since maybe Blake/Jordan (yawn) that I don’t care who wins – I’ll be happy either way. I also think neither of them need the win to get a lucrative contract…and probably with 19 entertainment at that.

Two weeks ago I would have said Crystal. But Lee got more props from the judges this week, I think just to keep it more spicy and competitive.
My best shot in the dark guess is Crystal FTW.
I often hear the winner has more contractual obligations and their CD’s are not as well prepared as they should be, I agree.
But they are better advertised and distributed as well. With the exception of last season when one finalist had a fortune poured into his CD and promo.’
I don’t see that happening this year. I think the winner will have the best shot at launching a big career. Of course it always comes down to talent and appeal in the long run. :smile:
I just got finished listening to all of Lee’s performances from semifinals to top 3, and I was actually surprised by the amount of “A” gradings I gave him, and great some of his performances were. Granted, I still loathed some of them a lot (like “Hallelujah” for example), and is still the reason I have my opinion that I do for Lee, but I think if the songs can fit his voice, he’ll have a chance of outperforming Crystal in my mind. But yeah, we’ll see…
I agree with you that whichever contestant has the tween/teen vote will likely win, but tweens/teens are also the demographic most likely to actually go out and buy the winner’s album.
It’s not a very loyal fan base, though… lol.
They’ll rip down their DeWyze posters and delete him from their iPod playlists as soon as the next hot male singer comes along.
But that’s good enough for Idol… they don’t seem as concerned about long term success as they are about striking while the iron’s still hot (and putting out a crappy debut album asap!).
I think this finale is the most interesting in a long time.
I think Lee wants to win this badly but is not 100% confident that he can.
On the other hand, I think Crystal is 100% confident she can win, but not completely sure that she wants to. With a second place finish she’ll earn more than enough to provide for her family (her ultimate goal) but without the obligations of the Idol winner.
Close your eyes and listen to Crystal, then open your eyes and watch and listen to her sing. Neither is appealing, she is just a local busker/club singer who made it this far because of the incredible lack of talent on AI this year. There is no redeeming quality in her voice, and she looks like a speed freak. She has absolutely no star power. Lee isn’t any better, but at least he looks more like a star. While he doesn’t sing quite as well as Crystal, his voice has unique qualities that may make him more marketable. Just ask the judges and producers at AI. The way they were pimping Lee this week, they have obviously decided that they would prefer the marketability of Lee. Lee wins, hands down. Maria Sharapova… beautiful?; Obama… change?; Crystal… great?, I’m sick of being sold myths.

Crystal has been consistent since she was 13 years old and day 1 of the competition. We already know what shes capable of. Lee just had 1-2 very good songs that’s it. Just remember how lame he has been since day 1 of the competition.

Wow..it could just go either way. I love both Lee and Crystal and I will be truly pleased with either one. I chose Crystal in the pool long ago, but it could very well be Lee. He’s had momentum growing week after week. Crystal too, has had a seemingly huge fan base..so..may the best group of voters win! :)
While I agree with you that Crystal has “seemed” to step down her game recently, I suspect that her health issues and not getting enough rest are taking a toll…
But we’ve seen what Crystal’s capable of and it is amazing!
Hands down one of the best raw talents Idol has ever had on its stage, and hopefully the viewers will remember that when they cast their votes.
