Flight 1549 Recording

Published on Feb 5, 2009 by in Misc News

Off topic but worthy of a post. Below is the cockpit recording of Flight 1549 that hit a flock of birds and landed in the Hudson River a couple of weeks ago. Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is so calm through the whole thing and is one hell of a hero.

Quote Of The Captain : “Unable. We may end up in the Hudson”

John Travolta is a jet licenced pilot, he knows the real “jargon” and how to fly one as well.

Amy I must say to you with the utmost respect, “YOU NEED TO GET YOUR EYES LIKE SERIOUSLY CHECKED GIRL. He does not even remotely resemble Sam Elliott. How can anyone look at him and think of Sam. I am not knocking Mr. Sulleninberger in the slightest, He is a hero and looks well for who he is. But Sam Elliot? No way.:w00t:
Like Chris Cooper could be the pilot’s twin?! It was MY OPINION. Thank you for telling MY opinion sucks. Anything else while you’re at it?!
Sure, give me time and I’ll come up with some thing.

Royalties from movie and book rites will probably be all he wants. But hey, who knows right?

I like the not so famous actor Chris Cooper, He would do a good job playing the pilot. He was good in The Kingdim with Jamie Fox and Syria with George Cloony.

  10. It was a wonderful story ,but I doubt it would ever make the silver screen…..not enough pain and suffering. It’s a shame, but Sully WILL get his reward one day.

Sam Elliot. He even looks a little like him too.

The guy’s an ex-fighter pilot, among other distinguished things in his past.

If you’re looking for an actor to play in the movie, you *might* want to try actors of the more seasoned variety. He IS pushing 60.

What an amazing story this is. Hopefully coming to a theatre near you soon. This would make a wonderful movie. Does anyone have a favorite to play ‘Sully’? I’m thinking Harrison Ford.
Yeah , it would make a great feel good movie since it’s a true story. Harrison is getting on up in years though. But he is always the average Joe who suddenly must overcome amazing odds to win the day.
I would like to see someone younger to play the pilot. Maybe Matt Damon, …i dunno ?
Well then, how about Brad Pitt ????!!!!!!

The last one out was Captain Sullenberger after walking twice the length of the cabin to ensure no one was inside. Outside, the air temperature was
-6C and those huddled on the wing or in the water were going limp and could not have survived more than a few minutes. The captain and his crew gave their jackets to freezing passengers. Passenger Barry Leonard was in serious danger of hypothermia after initially leaping into the water before making it to a raft.
‘I was obviously very cold and one of the pilots turned to me and said, “Please take off your wet shirt and I’ll give you my dry one”,’ he recalled.
‘And he gave me his shirt. He literally gave me the shirt off his back to keep me warmer. I still have it. And I’m never going to give it up.’
I can’t stress enough what a HERO this guy was.

  18.
The pilot is deserving of the hero label. Who among us would keep a cool head and react so calmly in the face of apparent disaster. The last time I was faced with something so stressful, I went and took a hot shower for 15 minutes before I could think what to do. Yes, if I am the pilot of your plane, get off immediately.
:pouty: Note to self: Make sure the pilot’s name is not Amy. :pouty:

  20. I know! I’ve been hearing it on tv all day and can’t believe how he just said “we’ll be in the Hudson” like it was nothing. Our local news interviewed someone who was a pilot with him years ago and the guy said Sullenberger is a very calm guy so it didn’t surprise him to hear this recording.

Now THIS is the true definition of the word “Hero”. Not some kid who calls 911 because some guy walked passed his house and stuck his tongue out at him and he was afraid . Kind of an extreme comparison, but in this day and age they use the word “hero” much too freely. And it drives me nuts.
Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is a TRUE hero !
