Hicks Joins Grease

Published on May 16, 2008 by in Taylor Hicks

Taylor Hicks will be joining the cast of Grease on Broadway. Starting on June 6, 2008 Taylor will play the part of the “Teen Angel”, the Guardian Angel from above that tries to guide Frenchy when she drops out of beauty school.

“It’s a big number, and, you know, I’ve made some pretty grand entrances before,” Hicks told The Associated Press on Thursday. “And this one is probably the grandest entrance I’ve had in my career.”

Well I am sure there are those that are happy for Taylor but in my opinion this is far from a big deal. It’s not like he is the main character in the musical. Taylor has a 3 minute part. Watch out, Soul Patrol is back.

I must disagree with that statement…
#1–Any role on Broadway is reaching the”top” of the mountain, It is a great honor for a performer to say, “I was on Broadway”..I hope you don’t think a #1 album is the only pinnacle?
$2.–The Angel part in Grease is a ‘show stopper’ and a part that is anticipated by the audience. I think is is wonderful that Broadway is giving outstanding performers from AI a chance to shine. And Taylor will by fabulous in that part..it was made for him.
I agree, Sim, doesn’t seem like such a big deal since it is a small part, but it’s Broadway, it’s singing, and it’s a job. Go Taylor! Make the most of it, bud.
Perfect scenario, Amy! **starts calculating budget**

  8. OMG! I am soooo there….well, I wish I could be there, anyway! I LOVE me some Taylor Hicks!
