MJ over at mjsbigblog is reporting that the NY Post has said that Radio Shock Jock Howard Stern is at the top of AI’s list as Simon Cowell’s replacement.
[note] “American Idol” producers are eager to hire Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell as the show’s tough-talking judge, sources tell Page Six.
An insider said that producers of the hit Fox show say Stern, America’s highest-paid radio personality, is their top choice to take over from Cowell, who leaves at the end of this season. They approached the King of All Media after he repeatedly mentioned on-air that his exclusive Sirius XM Radio deal expires next January and he was open to other offers. Cowell was paid $50 million a year.[/note]
Oh dear, could this be true? I would assume if the NY Post is reporting this it should have some credibility. I feel I could believe them over someone like TMZ. What are your thoughts? Leave a comment.

@ ABB:
and my opinion also Amy
@ joeyinc:
LOL
and slims next big thing: xfactorbloglive .com
That would be it for me as well. I can’t even imagine what sort of show it would become.
But he doesn’t like being bridled in any way so my guess would be he’d turn it down anyway.
@ rachel:
lololo Rachel…can you image if a bikini girl came into his view…help. He would not be able to control himself.he would ask her to drop her top and sit in his lap..and an immediate ticket to Hollywood,,.it would be a kid in a candy shop…
@ ABB:
Not only is it your opinion, you’re also quite correct.
@ Kathy Kent:
Don’t call me a “hater” just because I dislike a personality that you find “funny, honest and irreverent”. I didn’t rush to judgement; I listened to his show before I decided that his brand of entertainment wasn’t for me. IMO, I feel that the sexual humor and escapades as well as the blatant disrespect for women displayed on his show would be highly inappropriate for a show that not only includes teenagers, but also runs during prime time. Of course, this is only my opinion.
How many of you haters have ever actually listened to Howard? He is funny, honest, and irreverent, in short, the perfect judge for AI. He would be a nice counter to Ellen’s inane comments.
@ jalin:
Hear Hear Jalin, I also ask myself where the entertaiment in our society is headed with priorities and dollar value on just plain filth like that.
Can you imagine ? He’d want to spank all the girls !!! Ick.
I read Stern’s contract with Sirius is for $100 million a year. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY????? Despicable…
That’s it for me if they hire Howard
Stern. He makes me sick! And, I just found out he and Rosie O’Donnell are buddies now so I’m done with her, too. AI better think twice about this–he’s all wrong for this family-oriented show.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO…..
I have to agree with Amy, I would officially not ever watch the show again.
I have no problem with people like Ellen being a judge, but I DO have a problem with people like Howard Stern and his nasty self being any part of AI.
So, NO, I would NOT give him a chance. The end. Amen.
Stern would be the end for me too. I am like the rest of the commenters so far. I can’t stand anything about him. To say the man is dusgusting is the ultimate understatement.

@ ABB:
Right on, Sister
Well, maybe I’ll be the first to say it, if Stern becomes a judge, I am officially announcing that I won’t watch the show. Immediately AI would go from a somewhat wholesome, entertaining reality contest to a ribald, risque, sexual innuendo-filled crapfest. Just my 2 cents worth.
I want to throw up every time I see Howard Stern…He is the most seedy person ever on the air. He has a sex addiction and I wouldn’t want my young children standing in front of him being judged on talent. He is incapable of judging any talent other than the size of your t&A… this man disgusts me…It is like asking a pedophile to judge..The quickest way to insure that Simons new show is the bigger hit. What are they thinking?? Howard Stern cannot even kiss the dirt in front of Simons feet…I am livid, can you tell?
Dang it, CB! Stop taking my words from my mouth!
On a serious note, hiring Howard Stern will not increase ratings in my opinion. While some of his fans will watch the show, I think many more people will turn it off once they’ve seen him in action. I understand wanting someone caustic like Simon, but there has to be at least SOMETHING redeeming about the person, and there is NOTHING redeeming about Howard Stern.
If Stern is a choice, then they should consider raising the age limit to 21, let’s say 21 to 35. I don’t believe Stern would be able to control himself in front of 16 year old children, after all he does have a certain image to uphold. I also beleive AI would loose a very large block of viewers that can’t  stand  him, A very poor choice
Since there is no limitation as to where AI will go and who they will ask to join the judges panel this does not surprise me in the least. But a year ago I would have been shocked. Just as many sitcoms and game shows have changed actors and hosts over the years AI is not exempt from transistion. But I’m disapointed in their choices and do believe that it will be their demise.
I never was a Howard Stern fan or able to watch an entire show of his. It always got to raunchy, vulger, lewde, disgusting, and so on. But as I said, the way the show is going I’m not suprised.
Slim, why wouldn’t you want the job?
(HA! I beat Alan to it!)
