Milissa In Hospital

Published on Oct 6, 2008 by in Baby News

Update : (7:25PM EST) I am home now. Milissa is in the hospital overnight. She had her gall bladder removed about 2:30 this afternoon. No complications. She should come home tomorrow. Gracie is spending the night with grandma so I can get some sleep. Thank you everyone for your thoughts. It is appreciated. There still will be no updates until Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night.

I rushed Milissa to the hospital at 4:30AM this morning. She was having massive stomache cramps and was doubled over in pain. They have admitted her and will be removing her gall bladder sometime this afternoon. I just ran home to get baby supplies and to let the dog out and I am returning to the hospital.

There will be no further blog updates until tomorrow nights Dancing With the Stars post. I will update via the twitter section of the sidebar above the shoutbox as to Milissa’s surgery.

Hope Milissa has a real speedy recovery. Take good care of her as I am sure you will. I do have to say, I am jealous, I never had a sleepover till I was older and in grade school. Gracie, I am sure is having a great sleepover. How cool is that.

She should stay at least 3 days and that is pushing it..I hope grandma is ready to watch Little Gracie for a few days. I can’t imagine having that operation and then care for a wee one the next day!!!
Anyway, I am so sorry she is going through this and pray for her quick recovery.
I went home the same day! I was pretty miserable that first night, but after that, I was ok. I’m so glad I didn’t have a newborn!

Slim, wish I was closer so I could help!!

Sleep tight tonight Dad. We wish Milissa and Gracie the best.

Just a thought but you may want to avoid hospitals and doctors for a few weeks after this. Really, they can get on without you and the family.

Oh that is so painful. I had that done too. Hang in there. Take care of your family first. Things will be fine here.

Allow me to 2nd that. That’s why you have moderators – let them earn their exorbitant pay.

Of course that may also be the equivalent of the inmates running the asylum but that’s a chance we’ll have to take.
Bummer, Slim, and kudos to you for being a true jack-of-all-trades in an emergency. Best wishes to Milissa for a speedy recovery. And for you get your heart rate back to normal.

  28. Surgery for gall bladder has come a long way. My mom had hers out in the late 60′s. She was in the hospital for 5 days and came out with a diagonal scar the entire distance from her chest to her hip. Nowadays they do laparoscopic surgery and you’re out before you know it. Usually less than 24 hours.

That being said, it doesn’t make it any less scary. Especially when you wake up at 4 in the morning doubled over in pain! My thoughts are with you guys and I’m sure everything will turn out just fine. Can’t wait till you get back!

  29. CB

    Good luck.

  30. Sorry to hear that Slim. I’ll pray in hopes that everything goes fine and she returns home soon.
