What really bothers me is the merchandising. People selling American flags with Obama’s photo on them..with some silly slogan on them. It’s flag desecration and I can’t stand that. I am NOT blaming Obama in any way shape or form. I blame the idiots making a quick buck selling cheesy trinkets in the name of “patriotism” or whatever they want to claim it is.
I’ll take a plain American flag please. 13 stripes, 50 stars.
Randy for president! Hey, he may just suprise us all and be a good president!!

I wish Obama well..OUR Country depends on it….But I don’t live in a clouded bubble either…..Fact remains…He is human and he is a politician…..Period
Well said, and of course I agree.
At this time one of my greatest concerns facing the white house and I have many concerns for our country, jobs, free trade agreements, failing schools, environment, economy, ect. like everyone else too many to mention. And I know Mr. Obama is not even sworn in yet, but how he deals with the blood shed between Israel and Palestine is so critical at this moment. I think the latest eruption on going violence is a direct reaction to his election. He stated he would have direct talks with some of the parties involved in helping to finance this war. I certainly am not in any way trying to say he is responsible for the actions of others because he is most certainly not. I fear things may get worse over there before better and he will have his hands more then full. I for one will be praying for this man.

Right Amy, mixed my facts, never has a president lost election during time of war. And if thats wrong I dont want to know. ha ha
Let’s say that Truman and Johnson found ways to avoid that…

Typo – Must be the dog worry/Inaugural excitement Korea was Truman to Eisenhower WW2 was Roosevelt to Truman…but the point is still well taken!

To state my thoughts briefly, Our new President is inheriting the greatest challenge of any in our history, the key word is inherit. Never before have we changed presidents at time of war in our nations history. never since the great dust bowl depression of the 19 30s has our country seen such economic kayos

I believe the US currently has the longest continuing form of government of any country on the planet. Whether or not “your guy” got elected is not the point today.
Well put. I wish Obama all the best. He, as all Presidents, will have a great deal of pressure on him to do well in many different areas. I’l be glad to have this day over so he can get to work!

I too wish it was a cheaper event, especially in these economic times, however I am very glad it isn’t a regal event since we elect a servant of the people and not a sovereign over the people.
Very exciting day, the kids all are breaking from their regular program this AM to watch the inaugural. I definitely agree with that choice. This is that big a deal.
The first president with acknowledge African blood being elected in a country with our history is huge. Admittedly not a person with slaves as ancestors but still…
You guys all know my thoughts…for the most part. :) At the risk of sounding childish, I am glad to have to work all day so I can miss all the extravagant hoopla all day long.
The inauguration should be a more toned down, regal event…in my opinion. It’s a bit out of control this year. 170 million dollars worth of out of control.
Having said that, I wish nothing but the best for Obama.
