Well thats it idol fans. The judges have made the tough choice and delivered yet another tough to beat Top 24. There are a few weak links but all in all I think it is a fairly strong Top 24. As is tradition I always choose my Top 3 Idol contestants and place them in the sidebar on Top 24 night. I will stick with my choices throughout the remainder of the season. If they are sent home I will strike them through. I will not replace them with someone else. So who will it be this season? Well DJSlim’s Top 3 are Taylor Hicks, Paris Bennett and Kellie Pickler. What order? I have no idea but I am sticking to my guns and that is my solid Top 3. I am leaning towards Taylor winning the whole thing but only cause we need a male winner this season. All 3 in my opinion would make a solid American Idol.
Here is the deal, a little contest. At this point who would be your ideal Top 3. I know its early but its time to pick. Stick to your first thoughts and lets see who comes the closest. Leave your Top 3 in a comment and I will add you to the Top 3 Page. We will track and see who’s Top 3 is the closest. You must submit your Top 3 before next weeks live episode. I will find a prize for the winner.
I have once again changed the Idol Poll on ths sidebar. Did your favorite make the Top 24? Answer by leaving your vote today. Don’t forget to tune in next week as we finally have to the power, the power to send someone home. Who will it be? Tune in next week to find out.
Episode 9 (HW 3,4)
American Idol continued its quest for the Top 24 singers in America as we once again headed to Hollywood for hell week. The field was already narrowed from 175 to 99 and we will again cut that number in half tonight before the final round of judging tomorrow on FOX. Top 24 is right around the corner but first tonight is group competition.
The first group of girls for Day 3 included Paris and Stephanie and some other girl sent home. While I thought all three sounded terrible, they were put through. Even Simon thought they were pitifull but it itsn’t all based on this performance. Paris should be and will be Top 24. Stephanie, I’m not sure about.
Anthony, Elliot, Sway and Terrell were in the first group of males for the day and the only one that I think sounded good was Sway and he was the one who went to bed in the group. The judges put all but Anthony through and I was kind of suprised. I thought when Terrell started crying like a baby about Elliot and Sway going to bed the judges would have sent him packing. They didn’t and I have to deal with him for one more episode at least. I really don’t like him, Sway and Elliot, I do.
Kevin Covias, Josh Jordan, David Radford and William Makur made up the rat pack and I loved all four of them. The four of them were in sync, they practiced and it showed. I see a lot of potential in all 4 of them. If I had to pick the weakest here, I would say it was William. Paula sent all 4 through.
Derrell, Terrells brother, was also sent through. Of course just like his brother, he had something stupid to say. I really don’t know what he was talking about. He thought the judges had sent his brother home when in fact they hadn’t and he freaked out. In spite he quit and walked off the stage. Wonder if Simon will let him beg for his spot back? I wouldn’t. Both him and his brother can leave as far as I am concerned. They can’t sing and they cry over everything. Ryan did bring Derrell back in front of Simon to apologize. Again he ran his mouth and Simon cut him off telling him the judges would decide his fate in 30 minutes. Back in front of Simon one last time, Derrell apologized again and Simon allowed them to stay.
The three-some with Marcy Smith, Brenna Gethers and Nick Whitten was strange. I didn’t really like Nick and I don’t remember seeing Marcy before but I really like her even though she forgot her words. Simon put all 3 through, but I don’t know how much of Brenna I can take. She is 100 times worse than Mikalah was last season and Mikalah was annoying. I see a lot of drama with this chick, a lot of drama. Maybe she will get cut tomorrow night just to spare us. That would be nice even though she can sing.
The 3 cowboys wrapped up the night and were all over the place. Even the backup vocals were terrible. I am sorry to say I wouldn’t put any of them through. Simon thought the same and he sent them all home. Poor Garret. At least he can fly on a plane again. Group day is complete (Day 3). Dreams were shattered, hopes were crushed and Garret is returning to the ranch.
We then turned quickly to day 4 where each contestant was allowed to sing one of 95 songs acapella in front of the judges. The theater was then locked down while Simon, Paula and Randy deliberated the fate of who will return for the final round of judging tomorrow night.
The contestants were grouped into 4 rooms as in previous seasons. Room 1 was sent home. Room 2 was sent through. Room 3 was sent through. Room 4 was also sent through.
If someone can verify all the names via a comment I will post them. I have posted the rumored Top 24 in the Comments. It will probably be 100% accurate.
Well thats it for tonight. A lot of talent has made it through, while a lot of dreams have been crushed. 44 contestants still have one more shot at making the all important Top 24. Who will make the magic list? Tune into tomorrow night while we find out our Top 24.
Don’t forget to vote in the Idol Poll on the sidebar. The poll changes frequently so stop back and leave your vote each week. You can always see all the previous poll by clicking Here.
Episode 8 (HW 1,2)
Its not Top 24 but at least it is better than auditions. Its Hollywood baby and time to start looking for the all important Top 24. 12 Males, 12 females just like last year will emerge from the next few episodes known as “Hollywood week”. Tonight we begin the battle. Lets get it on and check out the talent and those who should have been left on the tarmac of their hometown airport.
To begin round 1 in Hollywood, contestants are given 12 songs to choose from. They are also allowed to choose the key they will perform in. 175 contestants are split into 2 groups. One group will be performing, the other group a sight seeing trip of Hollywood.
The first two contestants featured and put through to the next Hollywood Round that I can confirm are Patrick Hall and Kellie Pickler. Both have been rumored to be in the Top 24 already so this was no suprise to me at all. Both are good, but Patrick sounded much better than Kellie if you want to compare the 2. I think Kellie was in the wrong key. Maybe I am wrong. But it doesn’t matter who is better yet as they are both passed on to Round 2.
Ronnie Norman and Stephen David Jr both sounded great. Simon didn’t like Stephen and I admit Ronnie was a little better but they both deserve a shot. Ronnie and Stephen shockingly were sent home. That was rude Simon, the way you tricked the back row and congratulated them on going home. As we said last night Simon is an ass. (I have a feeling a few readers will be upset by Stephen being sent home – sonya)
Lisa Tucker, like Kellie sang “Hopelessly Devoted”. I thought she sounded awful. Again the wrong key, too low. Paula put her through which is good, but damn Lisa, you are rumored as Top 24 and one of my favorites. Get your shit together. That was awful. I don’t think you can survive another audition like that.
Another Top 24 rumor is 17 year old Paris Bennet. No wonder why Paris is rumored for Top 24. The best audition I saw so far tonight, however will the Simon comment in her song hurt her? Not a chance. Simon sent her through, rightfully so.
Gray haired Taylor Hicks wrapped up Day 1 and was awesome. What a wonderful and soothing voice. It reminds me of someone but I can’t put my finger on who yet. He looks old but damn I would love to see him in the Top 24. He is something different that American Idol needs. I just hope they don’t get rid of his gray hair. That should be his trademark.
We begin day 2 with the 2 groups of contestants swapping spots. Group 2 will now perform for the judges while yesterdays performers get to relax and party while some are on their planes heading home. The Idol rejects that is. Don’t worry, there will be many more right behind you. 151 of them to be exact.
Derrell and Terrell both sang and I felt both were only ok. Terrell was a little better than Derrell but neither are the next American Idol. Paula agreed and thought Terrell was also better. Did they make it through? Of course thanks to Randy but I am not seeing them making it much past group auditions.
Gina Glosken who everyone seems to like and is rumored to have not made Top 24 sounded terrible. She looked hot but that was all for me. Gina was put through to Round 2 but I wonder how much farther she will go. Anyone have an idea how far she makes it in Hollywood before going home?
Garret the young cowboy is a real treat. This kid just rode on a plane for the first time on his way to Hollywood. He strode in with his cowboy hat and I don’t know what I think. Part of me thought it was awful and part of me feels bad for the kid so I feel inclined to like it. He did much better during auditions and this time was very nervous. The contestants listening loved it and by some miracle he was put through. I hope he does better cause I kind of like this little guy. I want to see him make it to Top 24 but he needs to lose the nerves otherwise Simon will axe him soon.
I end tonight with Dave. WTF is up with this guy? How did he make it to Hollywood? I admit he is funny as hell but I thought that was what auditions were for, the funny people. Hollywood is supposed to be serious not funny. Thank god Simon finally got his wish, and with that Dave went home.
Well thats it for Hollywood Week, Days 1 & 2. Some of our stars shined through, while others were awful and already sent back to begin working on next season. A lot of talent will comprise this seasons Top 24, I can already feel it. It may just be the most talented Top 24 ever with all the talent we are seeing.
There were many others that made it through to the next Hollywood Round other than the ones mentioned above. I spoke mostly of the people that were featured on the episode. If you know names of anyone else that made it through, feel free to add them in a comment.
Anyone know the outcome of Mecca Madison?
Don’t forget the new Idol Poll on the sidebar. Everyone has their favorite audition city. This is your chance to let us know which city had the best Idol Talent. Leave your vote today as I tend to change the polls quite frequently.
