This girl had a shot, the industry did not fail her, she has been a broadway star and had a record deal. She has been coached and managed by pro”s since childhood. You do don”t put a nascar in a horse race do you? would that be fair to the horses? Sorry but I just cannot turn a blind eye to what I believe is right and wrong. How do you think these kids feel that drive 500 miles and wait 2 days living in their cars feel about a pro getting shuffled to the front of the line. I hope A I staff reads this post and takes it to heart. This hanky panky is a bunch of bull $#*t and needs to stop now!

Based on the Stage 46 story, I should have said: let the writers decide. If Stage 46 is right this girl has no chance unless she makes for really good television.

I’ve read more about Joanna and now her story is all coming back to me. I totally remember the Annie on Broadway debacle and how she won a contest sponsered by Macy’s that was played out on tv (kind of like the Grease casting competition). She won the part and played it for a few months, then they replaced her when she got bronchitis instead of wating until she was over it and could take the roll back. I remember she was really good at age 12. The recording in the video above does sound just like any other 20-yr old pop singer, as Joe Cool & Amy both said.

Hey Doc, half of the female pop vocalists working today need to learn to sing from the diaphragm.
I do agree with Lee, AI is starting to lose it’s original intent by what is now being perceived as actively pursuing known talent. Are the recruiting them? No one knows. If they are, then the show is no longer true to it’s original concept. While that is sad, if the show does produce legitimate talent and we do in fact buy their music, then maybe it is a success after all. Yes, I wish everyone traveled the road of Carrie Underwood, but maybe those days are gone. :sad:

She tried out and went the same route as everyone else. Did they plan all along to make her top 12? Probably expected it but, as we saw, they couldn’t control it after that and I would argue she was actually put on to divert the haters and give Simon someone to pick on to cross up the haters.

She reminds me of Hilary Duff but with a less powerful voice. She has a similar look in spite of the dark hair. I’ve heard something of hers on Yahoo Launchcast plus but I can’t remember it and can no longer find it.

I don’t think I would spend money on her songs.If she sounds better than the other singers I will vote for her. She needs to learn proper breath control and how to sing from the diaphragm.
