Song for American Idol (Video Tribute)

Published on Apr 12, 2007 by in Misc Videos

I was emailed via myspace a video tribute to American Idol by Kashy Keegan and I wanted to feature it here. The song is beautiful and personally I think it should be entered in the song search for this seasons winner.

So what do you think? Personally I love it. Leave your thoughts in a comment and tune in again tomorrow for the song selection post for next weeks episode.

Just had the chance to listen to the song…How beautiful! What inspirational words. It also has a really nice melody. The vocalist has a pleasing sound as well.

I just have to say to those that criticize, can I please have the link to a song that you wrote? The reason I ask, is that if you think it is better than this, then it must be wonderful and I think you should share it. What, you don’t have a song??

Ok I heard the song. Good luck dude in your career. The song is a bit indulgant. Technically needs some cleaning up. But as a feel good song I guess it was ok.

  3. Very cool song! And nice video. We should have done that. We submitted a song for the contest called MY CHANCE. you can hear it at http://www.myspace.com/voteformychance

I sure do hope those who judge the songs for the American Idol show listen to Kashy’s song. I don’t think I have heard, since “We Are The World”, more soul moving lyrics. I understand there are always rules but at least allow him to perform the song live. We, who know Kashy, know how talented he is. I am an American living in the UK and I would be proud to have his music represent our USA contestants. Thanks for the time. Lee

  5. Here is the email I got back from Kashy after I told him I was featuring his song on the blog
Hi Slim,

Thanks for the message. Someone did actually tell me that they were running a songwriting competition and so I went to check out the details on the American Idol site. I would really, really love to enter the song. However, I am from the UK and it stipulates in the terms and conditions for the contest that you have to be an American Citizen in order to enter. It was a major disappointment for me because I thought that the song would of been perfect. The show airs over here as well and so I thought I might be in with a chance. It’s a real shame because there are not many opportunities for songs like ‘This is my Dream’ to be heard these days. On the radio all they seem to play is R&B and radio friendly pop. Music with an inspirational message is largely overlooked.

I am going to try and approach 19 Entertainment (the company behind the show) and see if I can get somebody there to at least give it a listen.

I really do appreciate the support of people like yourself. It’s really very rewarding when people add one of my songs to their profile or help to promote it as you have already done.

I will definitely be checking out your blog. Thank you so much for doing that!!!

    Best,

    Kashy
6. I’m with you Slim, its great!

  7. You will all ask. Who is Kashy Keegan?
Kashy Keegan is a 23 year old piano singer songwriter from the UK. He taught himself to play keys and has developed a fluid, distinctive style to playing and writing. His music ranges from uptempo Motown tracks to meaningful ballads. He has a sensitivity for emotion and believes that the most powerful songs are those that uplift and inspire people. His core belief is expressed in his own song ‘The Song of Hope’ The caged bird may be imprisoned, but whilst it still has the gift of song, it will never lose hope. Spread music, spread hope…
