Two of my favorite Beatles songs. Have you seen I Am Sam and paid attention to the soundtrack? I love how they got different artists to do covers of Beatles songs, and they all did a great job. For many of the songs, both versions are on my Not-An-iPod. I think I’m gonna really like this week. I hope they don’t mutilate any of the songs!! My boyfriend Paul will be pissed!! :em23:

Tuesday’s show IMO may be the most anticipated of all Idol shows because for the first time, the top 12 will be performing Beatles songs. And they will do it on a new set that promises more flash and pomp than last year.

Backbird was my first thought for David A, but Simon wanted him to step it up this week, remember the gloomy comment, my thought was Lovely Rita.
    [/quote]

I’d be happy if David Archuleta did “Lovely Rita”. But knowing him, he’ll slow it down and croon it like he did in his previous songs. That would be a mistake and Simon would jump all over it. Whatever he does, he has to liven things up this time.

  38. Nick

Will this week be great? I highly doubt it. With the Beatles songs themselves being awesome, it’s hard to pick just 12. With that said they have limited vocal range and unless any of the big singers make the songs truly their own they (Syesha, Carly, Ramielle, and David H) could be in trouble. I bet one lands in the bottom three, but no need to worry since you still got Ekie and Kristy in the mix….Here’s a few of my hot pics!!!

Jason- I wanna hold your hand
    Amanda- A hard days night
    David A- Hey Jude
    Michael-Cant buy me Love
    Brooke-let it be
David C-All you need is love

David Cook – While My Guitar Gently Weeps

This should be a fabulous week for Carly and David. I’m not sure about the rest. There are so many great songs available. I just hope they remember to make it their own, and not try to sound like the original…yes, that would be a trainwreck.

    So far I have
    Sgt. Pepper for Amanda
Lovely Rita for David A (only because Simon said he needed to pick it up)
    A Girl for David Castro

I will have to think on others

  49. ABB:

  50. ABB

What’s going to be really interesting is that most, if not all, Beatles songs don’t exactly have “glory” notes in them. So I imagine several of the singers are going to try their hardest to work a few into their songs of choice. I will hope for the best though. Sorry, I don’t know enough of the Beatles songs to be able to build a song list. I like several of Driller’s choices, but would like to see David A or David C sing “Got To Get You Into My Life”

  51. I dunno ’bout this one. Taking some of these songs and cutting them to 90 seconds, then giving them to aspiring entainers sounds like a pontential train wreck to me. But here ya go!
    Jason Castro – Yesterday
David Cook – Back In the USSR
    Michael Johns – Nowhere Man
    Chikezie Eze – P.S. I Love You
David Hernandez – Baby You Can Drive My Car
David Archeluta – I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Brooke White – Love Me Do
Amanda Overmeyer – Twist and Shout
    Rameile Mulaby – This Boy
Kristy Lee Cook – Ticket to Ride
Seyesha Mercado – If I Fell
    Carly Smithson – Get Back

Be advised, I grew up with these songs. I was a sophmore in high school when “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” first hit the air, so I am probably going to be super critical of anything these kids do. Close will not be good enough.

  52. Each person, save about 3 of them, will make mediocre to bad to downright horrible song choices for themselves.

    That is my prediction.

  53. :em78: :em78: :em78: :em78: :em78: :em78:

    Yippeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!
