Wonder if Cook planned this all along. Switchback is a very succesful Christian rock group – might bring some of Jason’s fanbase over? Reach out to a population that wasn’t sure of his viewpoint? Couldn’t get clearance on a song he really wanted to do and scrambled like hell to come up with anything? Wish he had something more uptempo.
See Seysha is pulling a DA and singing a song she is familiar with (thanks to Randy, he must have known?). She has the single best song w/ Fever. Go Archie, the current Chris Brown thing is still mid tempo but it is from this century.

Leona Lewis covered First Time Ever I Saw Your Face on her Spirit debut album. It’s a brilliant song choice if he pulls it off. If not, it’s going to be a disaster. Pretty ‘self-indulgent’ on Simon’s part.
I hope David A does a great job with “Longer”. That song was the first one ever dedicated to me by a serious boyfriend…… only a century ago, I know, but some good memories wrapped in that song.

As much as we might anticipate that a song choice might not be the best choice, it seems each week that the songs usually turn out really nice, since each singer puts their own spin into it.
I’m curious as to what the rest of the songs will be.
I think DC doing a Collective Soul song will be fantastic. It is great choice for him. As for Simon’s pick, well it is straight out of left field, but I am thinking that if DC works it out, and I have no doubt that he will, it just might be the home run. Right there! Especially when you think of Archie doing the funeral dirge that is And So it Goes…… and goes….. and goes…… That song may well be his epitaph.
I would have more chance of landing a spacecraft on the moon singlehandedly than being able to arrange a song! However, that is not going to stop me for saying that I don’t think DC will do the Cash version of FTEISYF, the register is too low, he will do something in between that and Roberta’s version and then he will add the DC spin to it. I got goose bumps. GOOSE BUMPS!

Simon (in my opinion, for whatever that’s worth) wants Cook to show his versatility. I think that Cook will do a fantastic job with that song. In fact, he’ll probably knock that ball out of the park. He’s really good at making songs his own. Archie on the other hand (much as I love him!) has played it safe with lots of ballads, and would earn more respect if he could show everyone he can sing a super upbeat song. Paula’s pick isn’t going to force him to do that. It will be another same-old, same-old.

I think “I am Changing” actually would be a good choice for Syesha. But then again- why would they say Randy picked “If I ain’t got you”? I’d rather it be the Changing song because the Alicia Keys song making enough of an impact in the top 3- don’t think so… and another girl who sang it back in season 5 was voted off after it- and it was back in the top 16…so not great of a choice..unless she can work it out

The First Time . . . is one of my all time favorite songs and I’m sorta jazzed to hear Cookie give it a try.
I have also heard that Nigel picked ‘American Woman’ for David Cook. Remember, take these with a grain of salt, rehearsals have not started yet!
