    @ DJSlim:

I love how you sit back and watch it all happen, Slim!!

  2. randomx6

“I am a kind of paranoiac in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy.”

  3. Easy Rider

      @ DJSlim:

  4. let the drama begin. This is American Idol

  5. @ CB:
No, I don’t “know that”. I happen to believe Teri when she said it wasn’t directed at anyone in particular. Why would she lie about it? Nobody referred to anybody obtusely. And that word reminds me of The Shawshank Redemption, btw. I’m not in any kind of argument, just trying to keep peace. If she says it’s not about you, believe her. *Now crossing Swiss border* Hi Amy!! Don’t fall!!!

  6. Easy Rider

“YOU LIE”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When did Senator “JOE WILSON” join the fricass? :w00t:

  7. ABB

Oh goody, first spat of the season! Does everybody have to choose sides or can we just sit on the fence? Since Joyce left Switzerland this time, maybe I’ll go there instead! *dances to Switzerland AND tries not to fall off fence*

    @ ABB:
Pipe dreams are good (or so I’ve read … no personal experience). Actually, I don’t neccesarily think it is the person in the White House who is “at fault”. It is these damnable citizens who can’t agree with one another that muck it up.

  9. angie

    Get over yourself.

  10. randomx6

    @ CB:
Nah, whats her name, Bachman? from MN for bikini girl. And for the Mod Squad, Mr. Brown in a Cosmo pose…

  11. CB

    @ Joyce:

Because she’s accused me of being argumentative and of having an overinflated intellectual ego several times. This is just one more time & you know it.

You’re the one who asked that people not be referred to obtusely. I asked if that applied to mods also. It doesn’t, that’s clear. This isn’t my doing.

  12. @ CB:
Why does that automatically refer to you? Just because it says “brilliant”? Someone thinks a lot of himself. Sorry, I don’t usually get involved, but she said she hadn’t read your comments. Can’t we just leave it at that? Pretty please?

  13. Nancy Pelosi in a bikini … twenty years ago? Otherwise I might just hurl on the monitor and keyboard.

I will be the whole weekend getting that image out of my mind.

I’ll raise you Kay Bailey Hutchison 35 years ago, though.

  14. Easy Rider

The word politics is derived from the words “poly” meaning “many”. We all know the word “ticks” stands for blood sucking parisite.

  15. Easy Rider

Crime does not pay…as well as politics.

  16. CB

    @ DJSlim:

Your proposed website is exactly why Sarah Palin should have been elected.

  17. Easy Rider

    @ CB:
Yeah, and maybe Dianne Fienstien, don’t forget Hillary!

  18. CB

    @ DJSlim:

    Nancy Pelosi in a bikini?

  19. politics get the most comments. bikinis get the most pageviews. I think I am on to something here

    politicalbikini.com

  20. CB

    @ DJSlim:

Since by the accounts I’ve found “The Huffington Post” is the most visited blog on the internet you may have something there.

  21. Easy Rider

Maybe Slim! To quote the late Ronald Regan…Politics is supposed to be the worlds second oldest profession. I have come to realise that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

  22. i just love that this post has generated more comments than most idol posts :)

Maybe I am blogging the wrong topic on a regular basis

  23. ABB

    @ randomx6:
I know, Random. But I feel that once elected, the Supreme Commander should focus ALL his attention on governing the country, not in promoting one political party over another. What I’m saying is that the President should be above all that. I know, a pipe dream

  24. CB

    @ Terilynn:

Care to explain this little nonsequitur then?

“Some like any arguments, as long as they can “appear” brilliant to others.”

  25. Terilynn

    @ CB:
Sorry CB, no beef, was just stating that many people have different ways to get their information or not. No one way is the right way. My comment was not directed towards any one person. Next time I will make no comment. Gee, not everything I say is directed to you, frankly I did not read any of your comments until now.

  26. randomx6

    @ ABB:
Sorry Amy, that has never been the case (maybe Washington but he was really a Federalist who backed Hamilton against Madison and Jefferson so not even him).

  27. ABB

My devout and hopeless wish is and has always been that anyone who is elected to the Presidency sheds his so-called party and becomes a Statesman – one who works for the good of the WHOLE country. Sadly this hasn’t been the case in a great long while. For example, Obama’s recent stumping for Democrats running for re-election for various offices in MA, NJ, and VA. I resent his taking time out of governing our country (which should be his ONLY focus of attention) to support the one party.

  28. randomx6

I did enjoy his whipping of the Court…

  29. randomx6

    @ Dr. Electro:
It’s the job of the Speaker (if they are of the same party) to do that if the crowd isn’t spontaniously leaping to their feet.

  30. angie

    @ Easy Rider:

  31. Easy Rider

I didn’t watch it, I may not read it, I will probably just watch it all unfold over time. It never works out exactly as they say it will. Sorry if I seem somewhat lathargic. But the partisan b.s. makes me sick. I am pleased if I facinated anyone. and don’t give a rats behind if I disturbed anyone. It’s my life and my right and my livingroom my TV and my remote. :w00t:

  32. angie

I have read Teri’s post multiple times and I don’t see any insults and if there are some there, she certainly didn’t aim them at anyone in particular.

  33. angie

    @ Dr. Electro:

That Pelosi is one scary chick!

  34. CB

    @ Terilynn:

Since your insults were obviously aimed at me…..

1 – I provided a link to the speech transcripts for those interested parties

2 – I recommended a book on the relation of television and American society.

3 – I expressed MY thoughts on the importance of watching the speech

    What’s your beef?

  35. ABB

    @ Dr. Electro:
Seeing Nancy Pelosi behind the Pres is what drives me to transcripts. She is so distracting with her sour lipped expressions and rehearsed ovation-starting. Actually I always prefer the transcripts – I do get visually distracted by the audience and various people’s expressions when watching and miss the nuances of whatever is being said/not said..

  36. I forgot to mention that I kept sassing the TV and telling Nancy Pelosi to sit down and shut up. She started all those standing ovations. I find that the most tiresome part of the entire event.

BAck to my nap now.

  37. It’s funny how every president’s speechwriters make them sound reasonable and insightful for these SOU speeches. They end up being a lot of hot air.

Yes I voted for O-boo-boo who is turning out to be a political nincompoop and about as effective as a screen door on a submarine.

That said, he really did inherit a horrible mess when he entered the oval office. I don’t think fo rone minute that we can expect one man to instantly stop the hemmorhaging of jobs and money any more than we can pin the blame for the whole God-awful mess on any individual.

We have immense problems and it will take time and immense efforts by all of us to fix all the problems. Is it okay to bad-mouth the people we elected for being incompetent? Of course it is I personally fought for that right and not just for myself. Therefore I respect YOUR right to dissent equally with my own.

Speak your piece about the current political situation. Blame everybody in power for the last decade for the bull crap we are trying to clean off the rugs. Never forget that freedom isn’t free and continue to shout it from the rooftops that you have it.

Now it’s time for my next nap.

  38. Terilynn

Some like any arguments, as long as they can “appear” brilliant to others.

Some watch and listen and don’t say anything about it.

Some watch and say they watched every minute of it. Then blow hard about it!

Some may not care to watch the address but catch up the following day.

Some may not watch at all.

Isn’t nice to know that we all have the right to do how we please? No one should be chastised for that right.

  39. angie

I don’t, or rarely, watch the presidential addresses even of the presidents I DO like. I can’t stand the constant standing ovations and applause. While I appreciate the lauding for good points during the speeches, it is usually not warranted 50 times or more. All of that just makes it disjointed to me.

So, I watch clips on TV later or the next day and read the transcript. It’s not that I can’t take an hour or so out of my day to listen to the president speak, it’s that I get more out of it if I read it all at once. (or read the highlights on Twitter..ha ha ha)

Starshine, we, or most of us, welcome healthy debate about all things! Well, I admit, I don’t get into political debates but I like to read them. lol

  40. CB

For the “transcript only please” crowd.

I find it fascinating & disturbing at the same time that people can’t take an hour out of their busy lives to listen to the leader of the free world describe his future vision of the country & the world. Postman is dead on. See:

  41. joeyinc

An English radio station once ran an ad that gave an example of what life would be like without political discussions, the punchline was that the interview ended being about the lack of coffee cup holders in cars.
They may be the root of all evil but in the end of the day EVERYTHING comes down to politics and that being said we may as well take an interest.
THAT being said I really didn’t care for the speech but hey, at least our idol schedule wasn’t interrupted this time

  42. Terilynn

    I am with you Starshine

  43. where would our country be without political arguments?

  44. randomx6

    @ starshine0810:
Starshine – I love me some politics and I don’t know if you and I share views or not but i don’t care if you agree with me. I love political arguments.

  45. @ starshine0810:

i just post the stuff to give people something to comment on :)

  46. rachel

    @ DrillerAA:

    Ditto.

  47. Not interested. Just another politican blowing smoke! Bla, bla, bla.

  48. starshine0810

Since some here share different Political views,,I wish that these types of questions were not part of this blog..I wish we could confine it to AI or other categories in this realm..This question belongs, in my opinion, on the ‘forum’. I don’t like having ill feelings about people I really admire on this blog because they may have strong political feelings that differ from mine.. I have found from time to time this has happened and I dread when I see a political question come up. My feelings on this–hope it hasn’t opened up a ‘Pandora’s box’..and I am not ostracized!!!

  49. randomx6

Listening. Damn right. Harry Reid yawning? Woodshed tomorrow.
