Jason Castro was by FAR the best of this group. It’s a shame he was voted him because he has a highly emotive voice, without excess (Archie), his phrasing is near perfect, unlike Archie who hasn’t a clue on how to work a song into a meaningful experience. Of all the contestants Castro is the only one who truly connects to the song. Bravo!

I’ve heard better. I don’t mean to sound whiny but the singles are getting boring. They all sound good but aside from Jason, they all picked the wrong songs. Wolf over Baba? Love Me Tender over Stand By Me? Oh, and I didn’t like Proud Mary at all.
I loved Jason’s Tambourine Man. I’ve been singing it all day. I miss the dreads.

Tambo man, “sing along” last vs. only, Click on the track first!!!
Then take me dissapearin’ thru the smoke rings of my mind/Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted frightend trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow./ Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silloetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate, driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today untill tomorrow
Hey mister tamborine man, play a song for me, Im not sleepy and there is no place Im goin’ to/ Hey mister tamborine man play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle mornin’ I’ll come followin’you.
Castro’s Tambo man blew me away. Im sure no one cares, but went down to my basement retrieved my old gibson flattop, was still in pretty good tune to my surprise. kept clickin song over again till all the words came back and my fingers started workin good enough to chop off a few major chords. Was strummin and singin and “feelin it too”. Havin myself A righteous time. All I need back now is my old 63 rag top chevy and my hair, lol! Probably wont happen though. Hope Castro records some old nastalgia for the geriatric crowd. Would love to here more Dylan, [lay lady lay], [ive got a name] Jim Croch’e, Harry Chapman, [taxi] Gordon Lightfoot [sun down] so many others but am boring you to death already Im sure. Thanks for this “experience” Castro, would roll one up to you but quit light years ago, but will toast a glass of wine to you as I listen to your first cd.
He he he, I’m enjoying the Jason love-fest!

I just listened to the studio version of Mr. Tambourine Man (thanks, Slim!) and … I completely agree with the other posters here. Different, intriguing, memorable. I’ll miss you, Jason!

Well I actually listened to all of them this week and I have to say that Jason’s Mr Tambourine Man is by far my favourite. And not just because it’s Jason Castro! My second favourite is…(almost hate to say this because I can’t get over how artificial she appears *to me* – I’m not saying she is, just that that’s the impression *I* get) Syesha’s Proud Mary. My problem with David C’s Hungry Like the Wolf is that I seriously don’t feel any connection whatsoever between him and the words and the music. He’s just performing it, performing quite well, but that’s it. I like Archie alot, but I wasn’t in the mood to listen all the way through Love Me Tender…a bit too slow for me today.
Love JC, will miss him!

15.
wow, thanks for sharing :) its my first time to leave a comment here :)

btw, jason’s studio version was great! too bad he didn’t bring it out on stage :(
I keep trying to convince people that this season’s sound mixer always cuts back on the microphone when the contestants are singing live. I have no idea why but whoever it is has sabotaged Brooke, Carly, Michael and Jason repeatedly this season. That person has not sabotaged David, David or Syesha one time so far.

It isn’t the singing, it’s the mix.
