Update : Total Pop Star is in full swing. The site is live now with lots of videos for everyone to watch and vote on. I found myself there for over an hour looking at some of the talent. Does anyone have pictures from launch party? If so let me know and maybe we can get some posted.
There is yet another American Idol Type of contest starting on November 12. The big difference with this one is that it is web-based with aspiring singers submitting their song online and the general public voting on their favorite. The 6 people with the most votes will then get a chance to work with judges Andrew Van Slee, Joey Lawrence and Deborah Gibson with one being crowned “Total Pop Star” on January 27.
Head on over to the Official Website and check out some of the videos that have already been posted or even register and submit your own. Someone will win a record deal and it could be you.

I will say after poking around the site I wish we were able to embed videos from the competition onto our blogs. That would help to showcase some of the better singers.
I was at the launch party too last night! It rocked. The first show was awesome and I’ve been playing around on the site today. It’s fun to watch the worst people! U can comment now on the singers. I’ll be hitting that up tonight.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a pop superstar, but don’t feel like standing in line to get a chance to audition for Simon Cowell?
Well, then maybe the Total Pop Star contest is for you. Created by Universal Music Composer/Producer Andrew Van Slee, it is the largest on-line singing competition in the world, and open to anyone and everyone with a passion for singing and all things music! The winner gets a record contract and prizes worth over $150,000.
Celebrity judges for the competition are former teen idols Deborah Gibson and Joey Lawrence. (Hopefully they won’t be as mean as Simon or spacey as Paula Abdul).
Quick Facts:
Contestants must be 13 years of age or older and may register from anywhere in the world by creating a profile and uploading a singing video to the TOTAL POP STAR site.
A Contestant’s fate is based on how well they can market themselves as each Contestant must earn 1,000 votes to become a Finalist.
The six finalists with the highest number of Internet and text votes will be named the TOP 6.
The TOP 6 will fly into Hollywood, CA for a week-long studio recording adventure and reality show.
Working closely with the judges, the TOP 6 will prepare for their final performance. Each of the TOP 6 will also prepare a hit single – written by the celebrity judges- that they will perform if named the winner of TOTAL POP STAR.
Final performances will be streamed to the TOTAL POP STAR site where on-line fans will vote for their favorite.

Went to the TotalPopStar launch party in Hollywood last night. It was a typical Hollywood blowout! This site will be the coolest by far. We previewed the first show and there is some killer talent they have already found!
