Wild Card Explanation

Published on February 23rd, 2009 by in Season 8

Wondering how the wild card round will work? Look no further.

[note]The judges will bring back 9 to 12 people from rounds 1, 2 and 3. The contestants will perform during a 1 hour show. At the end of the episode the judges will choose which 3 of the contestants will join the Top 12. America will not vote and will have no say in the final 3 slots.

(Rumor) The contestants will sing the same song they sang in the semi’s[/note]

Does anyone know if the wildcards will be selected in a way that will even out the gender distribution? Since the 3rd place winner of each group can be of any gender, the 9 could end up (for example) top 3 women, top 3 men and any combination of men/women for the 3 runners up. So if there were a total of 4 women and 5 men – would the judges then have to select 2 women and 1 man to equal 6 of each gender? If so, that would really tilt the wildcard selection and could cause better performers to be dismissed just because of their gender.

Lol are you kidding? America is better off voting. I think that America’s opinion as a whole would be a lot better than just 4 judges debating. It’s going to be a boring and pointless show, well, except for one person. You just know that Paula, no matter what, will pick Ricky Braddy. And you just know that at least one of them will pick Anoop Desai. So there’s only one more spot. I can’t make that prediction now not having seen the other 24 perform, but the judges are going to pick who they want no matter the situation, well at least that’s how I feel. Like i could easily see, I don’t know, Stevie Wright come out and nail something and Anoop sing another one of those cheesy boy band performances and they’d pick Anoop. Idk.. that’s just my opinion is that we should choose.
Nope, not kidding or I would have said…just kidding! lol

I am perfectly fine with the judges picking three. I stopped getting worked up about things like this a long time ago. And I am NOT saying you are worked up. Not at all. Anyway, I just enjoy the show. I’ll pick my favorites from the Top 12 and root for them and just enjoy the ride to the end.
True.
I just hope that my favorite is actually in the ride for a while…. there’s NOTHING worse than your favorite coming in 12th or so. In the top 12, the lowest my favorite came was 8th. And that was Haley Scarnato. She can sing, but I’m not sure why she was my favorite that season lol. Syesha was m y fav last season and luckily she held on for a looooong time. So, hopefully this season is the same. But I can’t see that happening with my favorite this year…

  4. Oh yeah and one more post, promise….. that rumor is probably not true lol. because. that would be kinda pointless and boring

  5.
9 is a funky number with 4 judges…12 would make more sense but nothing about this season is making sense yet.

With no proof and nothing to go on but my gut, I bet the 4th place finisher from each week will get in leaving 6 truly “wild” slots. That should be fun.

Do we know when they will be announced Slim? End of results show 3? (although that would mean they knew in advance who was going through…     )

I don’t know, the each get one pick except Simon who gets 3?
mmm not necessarily. They wouldn’t know necessarily ahead of time because if they announced it on results show 3, they could develop their decisions that day, after they learned the results. well actually.. you’re right because if it’s the judges picking, that would mean they would know in advance. But… they could always have them pick at the end of the results. I don’t know it’s all so confusing lol
