When only 2 judges only got to critique each contestant last week it really upset a lot people. Personally I don’t care what any of the judges except Simon have to say and when he doesn’t get a chance to critique I feel lost.

In an interview that Kara gave over the weekend, she did state that she felt that this week all 4 judges would critique each contestant just like normal.

So what do you think? Will all 4 judges critique this week? Does it make a difference in the way America votes? And here is the big one. Do you think the judges save was used since it was felt that some contestants had an unfair advantage with the judges that got to critique them? Leave your thoughts in a comment.

Not so much to save someone who may win [because if they were close to winning they would not run shy of votes to start with] but to keep the best talent possible on the show.
The applause takes quite a bit of time too, they should have a 5 second light in the audience. :face:
I think I agree. My thought for the save is to save someone that has more than a 50/50 chance of coming out ahead of 2 of the current contestants. if not, and they’re going home the next week anyway, the save was pointless.

I kinda think we’re saying the same thing.

I like the way you think, Lee.

They DID waste the save on Matt, A.G. would have been a useful save and we would have had a more entertaining season 8
True that. I honestly believe it was cuz they wanted to continue the drama for the coming weeks.

  5. Justin says:

I just plain don’t think the judges save should have been used. Was it really necessary? Does Matt really hold much more promise that we absolutely needed him to remain? I don’t think so…

Kara talks about it a little bit in this article. Towards the middle of the article.

That makes me so sad. I would miss Simon soooooo much.
All they need do is throw enough $ at him and he will stay.

I don’t think the save was wasted at all.

Anyway, I read somewhere that ALL the judges would speak from now on because it was quite a disaster last week. I WANT them all to speak. Yes, I know, some of them say nothing while speaking a lot, but they’re there so let them speak. The 4th judge is just pointless and too much.

Like so many others said, cut out the extra crap and there is PLENTY of time for all the judges to critique.
If they would cut out the unnecessary judges’ time (i.e. tell Randy to stop booing Simon, tell Simon to stop wasting his breath criticizing Paula, cut down on the Ryan/Simon hoo-hah), reduce some of the contestant intros (unless they are actually informative and not just a waste of time) and make Paula attend a few courses on how to become more articulate, they would find themselves with that little bit of extra time…
I think that all four judges (since there are now four, not that I like having four) should speak – last week was utter nonsense.
Exactly. Well said !

I completely agree. They would have plenty of time for the judges if they would simply cut the Simon and Paula show. For me personally, that has become incredibly irritating.

I think Kara should have been there from season 1, get rid of Paula and Ryan will be the only one on Simon’s case (although that way Simon would have no one to draw on) and there would be no half finished sentences about clothes when it’s (officially still) a singing competition

  17. James says:

I don`t know if they`ll all be able to speak, but to be fair they should (seriously 4 judges? what`s the point, 3 is a good number, but even 2 will do).

I think it does make a difference what the judges say, quite a big difference actually.

That`s a nice final question and I actually never thought of it, but it`s a nice conspiracy theory. :D

  18. randomx6 says:

The show certainly did not need four judges but they are stuck now. Given that, I believe that all four have to speak about each Idolette (and I think they wil given the universal condemnation of the 2Pak) or there is a clear “judges bias” factor. I felt as if we had an A team (Simon and Paula) and a B team (Frick and Frack) last week.

Next year, they can get rid of Randy or Kara and get back to 3. I would say Randy as the one benefit to Kara has been that Paula has really stepped up her game this year. Next to Simon she makes the most sense and is giving the most useful criticism. Has there EVER been a more devasting critique on Idol than the one she gave Lil last week? Go back and check it out.

I think all four will be giving their opinions from now on, especially since each week there will be fewer to judge. After this week we will be down to only five, so there definitely should not be a problem. Having four judges commenting this year instead of three, I think is the problem.
yeah but once we hit top 4 they each sing 2 songs so we are back to where we are now. 8 songs in one hour.
Forgot about that.
We did NOT need four judges. And Paula needs to get off of whatever she is on and stop yaking so much ! :dizzy:

  20. rachel says:

And giving such loooooooong contestant’s personal stories is totally unnecessary as well before each one sings ! Just SING already !
