Contestant(s) : Josh Krajcik with Alanis Morrisette

Judges Thoughts : (LA) It was such a natural pairing to sing with Alanis. We just started at the top. That was great. (N) You gave to the other artist and it shows how giving of an artist you are. (P) I couldn’t think of a better way to start this competition tonight. You kept your identity and integrity. (S) Alanis – Amazing. Josh – You seemed a bit intimidated at the start. You have a second song to nail this. That was an 8 out of 10
My Thoughts/ Score : 6/10 It sucked till Alanis came on the stage. Then it was only half bad. Terrible song choice. Awful performance. Josh could be in trouble.
Contestant(s) : Chris Rene with Avril LavigneSong Title : “Complicated”

Judges Thoughts : (LA) You looked at home with Avril. That could be a record that we released tomorrow and it would be a #1 (N) It was a little shaky in the takeoff but I love you. You shine up there. (P) This show is about an energy that connects with the audience. You deserve to be here. (S) When it kicked in I felt your total joy and confidence. That could be a record.
My Thoughts/ Score : 6/10 Just as bad as Josh. Avril while she is HOT was terrible too.
Contestant(s) : Melanie Amaro with R. KellySong Title : “I Believe I Can Fly”

Judges Thoughts : (LA) You are luck to sing that with him. I felt like you got overshadowed by R. Kelly. It was great but I expect more from you. (N) You did the best that you could in that key. You put 1000% into that performance. You soared on that song. (P) It was fitting that you sang that. I wanted more emotion but your conviction through the whole competition has made us believe. (S) That was an incredible duet. You didn’t look like someone in a a talent show. I am feeling really good for Melanie right now.
My Thoughts/ Score : 8/10 Hands down round 1 goes to Melanie. An amazing vocal but a very boring performance and predictable as hell once her partner was spoiled this afternoon. Honestly I wouldn’t give any of the 3 $100 let alone $5,000,000.

Judges Thoughts : (LA) You are such a rock star. You made it your own. (N) You have been you. You have delivered every performance. (P) You are one of the most authentic artists. You own that stage. Great job tonight. (S) This is the song that will determine your fate. You took a risk. It was we liked about you in the first place. This is gonna be a very close call.
My Thoughts/ Score : 7/10 A HUGE improvement over round 1 but was it worth $5,000,000? Nope.

Judges Thoughts : (LA) I love what you just did. You poured everything into that song. (N) We all have a purpose in life and you are serving your purpose with that song. (P) You make everyone fall in love with you. (S) That was your $5,000,000 song. You stuck to your deal. You are not only a man of your word, you are a true performer. I hope America gets behind you.
My Thoughts/ Score : 8/10 Just like Josh it was a HUGE improvement over the first performance. As speculated it was an original and not that bad. Chris may have just pulled off second place with that performance.

Judges Thoughts : (LA) That is the Melanie that I love. That was a $50,000,000 performance. (N) You were the first person I felt connected to. Thank you. (P) Take it all in. You delivered a stellar performance. (S) I am proud of what you just did right there. Based on that performance you should be the winner of X Factor.
My Thoughts/ Score : 9/10 Melanie sealed the victory. 2 great performances tonight.
How Slim Thinks It Will Turn Out
Winner : Melanie Amaro
Second Place : Chris Rene
Third Place : Josh Krajcik
lol, you are right. Must’ve looked at Josh’s first instead of Melanie’s first when adding them up.
So yeah, in that case, instead of being tied with Josh for first, Melanie is first, Josh second, and Chris third for the night (for me).
Eric, you gave Melanie a 7 and a 10. By my math that adds up to 17/20, not 15/20.
Josh 1st song- 5/10- Just terrible… terrible song choice, Josh’s worst performance easily.
Chris 1st song- 2/10- Same as Josh but even worse. I believe his worst performance… these duels did no justice for them.
Melanie 2nd song- 7/10- It was good, and easily better than the first two, but it didn’t feel like the best Melanie performance, and thankfully L.A Reid called her out on it. But it was still good.
Josh 2nd song- 10/10- Just a brilliant final song. Best of the night.
Chris 2nd song- 8/10- Good, but the music overpowered his voice and I really had to move closer to the TV to hear him. The stage and instrumental did him and the song no justice.
Melanie’s 2nd song- 10/10- I’d put Josh’s a little bit above Melanie’s, but this was a brilliant performance. She has the pimp spot so she’s probably going to win.
Overall:
Josh- 15/20
Melanie- 15/20
Chris- 10/20
As long as Josh or Melanie win, I’m happy. Chris is a great songwriter and a good performer but those two are leagues above him vocally and that overshadows his performances. Overall, from the season as a whole, Josh comes in first, Melanie second, and Chris third.
However, based on Chris’ story, the fact the judges seem to want him to win, and the fact his songs are pretty catchy, I could see him stealing the victory. Melanie had the pimp spot and arguably the best performance of the night for many, so she’s the most likely candidate to win. Josh winning is unlikely, but if he did, he definitely deserves it since he was first.
